Battery issues with 2008 prius

    Had the car sitting for a few weeks and occasionally using the accessory mode to listen to music and stuff anyways I drained the battery, completely dead so I took it to the parts store and tested they said it was a bad battery even though it’s fairly new, so I said just charge it and see what happens. We charged it and it read good so I installed it, now my hybrid battery is not working at all not getting any charge and a0a80 and p3000. But it’s strange before i killed the 12v battery everything was working great with the car and even tested the battery on dr Prius app it had a good score. Could an issue with the 12v battery cause an issue with hybrid battery charging? I also notice the hybrid fan always working as a side note

    When the battery ecu sets certain codes (such as P0A80), it is programmed to activate the fan on high speed as a precaution.

    A HV battery problem can occur at "any" time, but seems more likely to manifest after the car sits awhile.

    What is Dr Prius showing for block voltages? Sometimes problems with the battery ecu and sense wires can trigger a P0A80 (but it's usually a bad module).

    So it's a 2008 with the original battery as far as anybody knows here? Correct If so how many years is that now since 2008 14 15 technically you're overdue for a hybrid battery and then letting it sit and what have you drove the sword in the stone if you will I know a guy I believe that has 435,000 on his original battery but the car doesn't sit It goes somewhere everyday My wife's 2010 gen3 Prius . Is still on its original engine and driving today with no head gasket failure no rattles no problems only because it stays three sheets in the wind since I bought it and since the original owners had it I know them it's been in the wind every day of its life including Sunday so I think that has a lot to do with that 2010 still being on the road today without any of the generation 3 failures at 300,000 now the brake lights are on pedals fine works great but they're on this is the first failure of this 2010 except for its original hybrid battery back at 180K or right near that I replace that with a 2015 junkyard battery when I bought this 2010 and again because it's driven every day it is giving us no trouble that junkyard battery. let that car sit in a minute and I bet it'll go to hell in a handbasket very quickly. So I tell her don't do it.

    It appears block 10 is out, so how could I go about repairing this? I really haven’t got a lot of money this is going to make or break me

    To be more precise you have a module in block 10 that likely has a failed cell. The same goes for block 9.

    Both of your screenshots show 0.00 Amps of current. You need to force-charge or put your A/C on max cold and then screenshot your blocks with a load.

    Now I can’t get the engine to start the car will only go into neutral and not drive, what could be going on with that?

    Battery is run down. You’ll have to take it apart and charge each module individually

    Maybe, but a better approach would be to read all ECUs and get any codes any are reporting. You will need a better app than Dr. Prius. You only need to be in IG-ON to read codes, and some capable scanners can even read some of the ECUs with the car OFF. Don't attempt to get the car READY until you read the codes and have a plan to fix whatever is broken.

    1 ACC
    • With the car in OFF; and the foot OFF the brake; press the start button once.
    2 IG-ON
    • If the car is in OFF; with the foot OFF the brake; press the start button twice.
    • If the car is in ACC mode; with the foot still OFF the brake; press the start button once more.
    3 READY
    • With foot ON the brake; press the START button once; this can be done when the car is in any other mode.
    4 OFF
    • If the car is in READY; press the START button once; it does not matter whether the foot is on or off the brake.
    • If the car is in ACC mode; with the foot OFF the brake; press the start button twice.
    • If the car is in IG-ON mode; with the foot OFF the brake; press the start button once.
