And I think 173MPGe is terrible.

Eh, it's a Hummer, and one priced such that very few will buy it. While I'd prefer they didn't, those that would could easily end up getting an ICE car that's rated in the low teens for mpg.

I don't doubt the 50 MPGe rating. What got me puzzled was the Hummer's 10,660 pounds weight. What a useless brick for getting groceries and doing all the other things 95% of the prospective buyers will do with it.

It is a silly vehicle, always was, ICE or EV.
That said, if someone is absolutely insistent on buying something like this, better to get close to Prius HEV efficiency than a quarter of it.

I just got back from getting groceries from two stores on my 62 pound $1,000 e-bike. Used about 18Wh/mile.

I ordered and picked up my Model Y in Lisle, Il., at a Tesla location that was originally built as a Hummer dealership. As memory serves, they weren't open very long before it went vacant for a good part of a decade. Tesla bought the place, fixed it up, and is now a smart looking building. Quite the irony.

There's always going to be a market for vehicles as such, so at least it can use renewable energy.

What do you mean by "now?" I had heard and read that it was always at least as efficient as a Prius or even more efficient and less harmful to the environment, when it was a gasser.

You mean back when CNW did an analysis that assumed the Hummer had a lifetime of about 3x as many years and miles as a typical Prius?

Even the most cursory look reveals serious biases and flaws: the average Hummer H1 is assumed to travel 379,000 miles and last for 35 years, while the average Prius is assumed to last only 109,000 miles over less than 12 years.

    I would love to buy one ! ! !
that is - if it'd had a couple airbags deployed from a minor crash along with other minor collision incidentals -
just think of the huge arss battery backup you could build for your home's solar array ...

What would you rather be following, a diesel p/u, 20 feet in the air with truck nuts hanging off the back, coal rolling all over the place, or the Hummer EV? Me, I'll stick with the EV. :D

The Hummer is a useless piece of failure, typical of GM. It might make a good doorstop for the Giant in Jack and the Beanstalk. It's proof that Americans love ugly, huge vehicles. It makes a statement, "I'm a showoff with poor taste."

I imagine Hummer sales will tank as soon as Tesla's next quarter begins as that's when the Cyber truck will finally be released. Hate to be the guy at the back of the cybertruck line. 2 million people on the wait list.

Let me know how that eBike works for you & groceries come February 1st when you have 2 or 3 feet of snow.
    ;)
