Stupid question, but hey you are all prius geeks here: I have been looking at used models and occasionally the persona comes up, rather than the normal I, II, III, IV, V (1-5) models. Looking at the persona, I can see its a bit lower and has somewhat racier rims & tires. what I cannot figure out is if the bumpers are sleeker or lower, or in anyway different on the persona, compared to the standard 1-5 models. the reason I'm asking is the regular front bumpers are already low enough and scrape on stuff; so will the persona just exacerbate that by being a bit lower, even if the sleek wheels are swapped out for the regular wheels? the persona bumpers almost seem to lack that up-sweep in the tail and leading edge, compared to the others.

I worked on a Persona version a couple times. The low profile big wheels seemed a bit odd and out of place, but I don't remember any thing being different about the bumper covers compared to regular Prius.

The overall wheel diameter with the 17" wheels is a bit less than the 15" - by 1cm / 0.4". So the ride height with 17" will be 0.5cm / 0.2" lower.

I own a persona it's not parked out front right now the old ladies at work but to me compared to my 2010 my 2013 persona seems to have more plastic pieces around the rocker panels and on the front and rear bumper covers this looks like there's more little trim along the bottom not that it matters We haven't really had any problems between the 2010 and the 2013 persona the 2010 Is a JBL solar roof car but not persona It also has 15-in wheels versus the personas 17 The old lady has quickly killed the 17-in rims in the low profile tires in short order the JBL solar roof car with the 15s has been bashed into curbs run over parking stones and parking lots and it's done nothing to the car not hurt the wheels nothing It's damaged some side walls of tires but not enough that the tires had to be replaced and the 2010 sold the roof car is on the road with Uber and all that nonsense so tires are getting replaced very quickly every year probably The front of the 2013 that big cow catcher grill and the large black piece when you damage that it's very expensive a new bumper cover and that big cow catcher grill for the 2013 is 700 something dollars by the time you get it straightened out for a 2010 or 2011 normal Prius you can buy a whole front end off a car for $400 so there's that to worry with If you damage anything anything gets in front of the persona and you hit it that bumper cover is much weaker because of that large grill once the grill is bashed there's no support between the sides of the bumper cover running across the front is almost non-existent so it's a much weaker design if any of the pieces of plastic are compromised and the pieces are more expensive If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't touch a persona personally I would get a JBL solar roof car but try to get a 12 or a 13 with the soft tex black interior

Just took a screengrab of a 2013 regular versus persona. I think the 17" wheels give it the allusion that the body is different, but they are probably the same. thx for everyone's replies.

When you read Tom's missives aloud they start to make more sense. Not kidding, Operative words still "start to" though...

Yeah we're old school hippies from another time that's long gone like the mid-60s on my property lives my ex-wife and my daughter down in the bottom of the property myself and my current girlfriend live in a house that we built on my property about 2 years ago. I am of the mindset that because people are not necessarily together on a given journey. Doesn't mean you throw everybody off the property fill up a dumpster and start all over again. I don't want my daughter 5,000 mi down the road struggling with whatever issues she has a home a bedroom and a life right here where we live Why does that need to be uprooted and upset because two adults can't manage their nonsense That's just the way we see it or the way I saw it at the time and that was that.

This is a case where “my old lady” really means the previous (old) one and having a current girlfriend is an acceptable norm in today’s culture.

Tom just needs to pause as he dictates and then say “period”. Then we will have less decoding to do as we read the latest from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.

Fortunately or unfortunately as the case may be I'm one of those guys who's been smoking for 50 years and I'll probably live to about 89 years old and be smoking partially at that age too like some of my friends so far or maybe not oh well I'm to the point right now almost 70 where it really doesn't matter so I just let it rip I'm not making a lot of changes to what grab a few more years has no bearing on anything I do at all I'm liable to get crushed by something falling on me way before I die of smoking cancer or something. And yes pappy was a khaki sweatpants bode gode potbellyed barnyard the old fart was smart. Enough. I think the lyrics are mostly right

so I tested the '15 persona yesterday. It checked out mostly, except the probably 1/2 quart overfill on oil from the dealer who didn't know what they were doing. the odd thing I found was two sets of 400+ mile fill ups with 41-42MPG, stored in the computer. that's way too low, so if everything else is equal, I have to attribute that to the large diameter tires. But that's a big delta (compared to 50-52 we should be getting in this area with summer gas); and I didn't know the previous owners driving style. She might have been doing 5 mile short trips to the store, but I still think she should have gotten better than 41-42 - its the summer now. Those nice persona rims and very tight tire profile meant the rims really get subject to some major damage - nicks/chips - which was the case with this car. I also found the front suspension stiffer on the persona than my other non-persona prius. not sure if that's different part number(s) on the persona. I would definitely consider throwing out the persona rims and going to the 15" though.

My girl eats them for lunch going to be moving to the 15s in short order I'm not buying more 17s and getting silly to find and everybody wants $200 a rim and they're not forgiving any kind of way at all go down a dirt road you'll get dings on the rims just from small rocks flying up so keeping one of these nice it has to be a garage queen and only driven on city streets etc so on and so forth the 15s are very forgiving give you plenty of sidewall for any kind of silly business driving off-road whatever you want to do The 17s are having none of that It's just not the way to go it's made for city kids and what have you Old people that aren't going anywhere something.
