So I want to charge now, but I turned the engine off half an hour ago. Is there any way to tell the Prius prime (2020) to start charging without turning the engine on, waiting until it gets through the boot cycle, then turning it off again and clicking the "charge now" button? Seems am obvious feature but I can't figure out how to do it ..
There's a button on the driver's side that'll bring up the charge menu on the MID. I can't remember if that works when the car is off. (I think it does?) You could use that to select "Charge Now" Alternatively, you could plug in the car, unplug then plug in again to tell the car to charge now.
I never tell the car anything. I just plug in and it charges. But I never use scheduled charging. Is that the difference? Ed
Yes, If you never entered a charge schedule. The default is charge now The few times I've wanted to charge now; connecting and disconnecting the charge handle when the green lamp appears; then plugging it back in will default to charge now. The next scheduled charge is not effected.
Thank you, Tideland. Yes!!! There is a little button above the gas tank cover release button by the driver's door that looks like a clock with a plug. That button brings up the charge menu - even when the car is off. (And other readers were correct that if you don't have a charge schedule you don't have this problem - but I do have a charge schedule.)
