I have a 2010 with 117,000 miles. Yesterday I had to make a hard stop at speed on an interstate highway. I could feel the ABS pulsing as I stopped. Worked fine as far as I could tell. But all the lights associated with the braking system lit up immediately and stayed on until this evening when I could put the Caresta in and clear the C1391-Abnormal Leak in Accumulator error. Once cleared I watched a couple of videos about this issue. Afterward I went back out and opened the drivers door. I could hear the pump running for about 8 seconds before shutting off. The pump remained off about 8 seconds and then restarted in a continuous cycle or running about 2 seconds on and about 8 seconds off. After leaving the car and closing the door it continued to cycle a few more times before stopping. Is that a normal cycling period? Is it safe to continue driving? I learned it a very expensive repair. If repair is necessary then that along with a couple of other issues with the car will likely cause me to replace it.

Any kind of discernible frequency of cycling of the accumulator pump is not normal, and means that one of the two components has failed. You've even got the DTC to prove it.
