The Florida Heat and two Hybrid Batteries

Hello Everyone:

This is my first post on a blog but I want to thank all the community because even before being a member, I would visit this chat to find answers and learn something new.

I bought my 2014 Prius C on 2017 with only 35k miles. It has been the best car I've owned. I remember when I took it out of the dealership and filled the tank with $12.00. The Prius C One is black with white interior. I've been so careful with this car. Never in an accident and went from Florida to Memphis Tn like it was nothing.

I put 100,000 miles on it. Drove it everyday. The 12v battery died on 2018 and the Hybrid Battery died on August 2021. No other issues other than replacing the wheel bearing hubs. I got a Dorman battery with two year warranty. It was on this chat that I learned how to clean the vent and to never block it. Also read about running the a/c etc.

Now, the Florida heat has been insane and I did not have a garage during all these years. Last July 2023, the hybrid battery died again. Just shy of the two years and thank Goodness the battery was covered. I wanted to share this piece of Information that I got from the associate at a NAPA auto parts. According to him, these batteries are being discontinued. It was hard to get the battery replacement from Dorman but they managed to find one.

I love my car. It is kind of silly to think that I would develop a sentimental value with a Prius but it happened.
My concern: to keep it and that this Florida heat kills the battery again, every time, faster. Right now, today , I am thinking of keeping it. It is C-R-A-Z-Y that I bought this car for $10k in 2017 and now some dealerships are asking $15,999 for one with 170k miles driven from the same year! (don't get me started with corollas because that is either more insane with the prices of used cars).

Now I own a house and I am able to store it in the garage and being more mindful of looking for a shade to park when its hot outside. Any other members here having same problems with low battery life in hot climate environments?

Thanks!!! I checked the website and for the Prius C its sold out at the moment . I will look again in the future to see.
