I have a Prius sitting right here it's an '08 It's got the tan cloth interior It has 435,000 mi on it original miles original catalytic converter and it looks like the original battery the HV one. The converter by its connection bolts and everything looks original The car has no history of any codes ever as far as I can tell no catalyst below threshold nothing looks like original O2 sensors in the car all of it The car basically runs and drives perfectly I've never seen a car with this kind of mileage not have the catalyst below threshold on an original cat anyway. Every piece of plastic underneath the car is in perfect shape and is intact looks like somebody put some nice stainless screws with washers and nuts on the back and some strategic places and they did a very good job the battery area the back of the car has to hatch cover everything is perfect inside and very little sign of aging or staining.

It's in for repairs and I'm trying to figure out how this car can have this many miles on it original catalytic converter original dash I do believe and I think it's the original battery I'm not positive I don't have paperwork it looks factory original I had the plug out of not open the case it's not in here for that by the display the battery charges from magenta to blue to green just like it should from the factory like my car does with the new battery I just can't believe this car doesn't have the catalytic threshold problem and the O2 sensors look original.

I want to say it's a southern car here in North Carolina I have no reason to believe it's been much of anywhere It belongs to a person who went to North Carolina State University so it's a red car with the mom sticker in the back predominantly woman driven it seems and she does not want to get out of it she loves it and it's got the terrible tan velour interior but it is clean. Usually that interior with half that mileage will be trashed this one the armrest is still near perfect 435k with almost every part that belongs on the car still on it including the fender liners the plastic liner under the front end of the car and all of it near perfect no kidding and it's practically amazing other Prius in this area that I see with half the mileage all the normal parts armrest and all that is gross.

Yeah I'd like to see pictures of the catalytic converter melting maybe somebody was trying to take it off with a torch a catalytic converter can get plugged up and exhaust gas can't flow through it and right there where the flow is stopped or greatly reduced it will glow red like a blowtorch heated metal but it won't melt No sir That's something like 16 1700° the metal won't liquefy The catalytic converter and modern exhaust pipe for the last 25 years You see what happens when you put a torch to it it barely melts if you will It kind of breaks. I'd like to see pictures of what you believe is melting catalytic converter maybe somebody was going to try to steal it with a torch rather than the simple use of a sawzall I don't know I can't see from here.

We have two 2008 Toyota's in our family...Rav4 and Corolla...I don't remember having a single check engine light from either and, looking at the engines/transmission, they are bone dry...no leaking anything.
Come on, something needs to start breaking to give this DIYer something fun to do besides changing the oil!!!
