Been using this guy for all my Priis for a while and he has always been on the high side. But this seems really high. Thoughts? KBB does agree with the cost but dang.
Rear wheel bearings are pretty easy. I paid a neighborhood mechanic $400 to have one replaced earlier this year, and your car isn't much different than ours when it comes to rear wheel bearings.
Maybe depends if you're in the rust belt? This is not his first Prius bearing I've seen, and he seems to have it down pat now: removal goes surprisingly quick, about 60 seconds with an air hammer..
Good hubs like oem and Timken can cost up to $350 for the part alone. I replaced one a couple of years ago using a Timken $200 part. Around $75 labor at an independent shop. Cheap hubs can fail in a year. Toyota online parts:
