Does anyone know if there is a film to be peeled off from the instrument cluster? There are some bubbles on mine which kind of indicate like dust under and that the film comes off. I chipped at the film a little on a corner but i does not look like this easily peels off and i do not want to damage the car. Is there something to peel off or is there just some quality contamination issues
The Prius I test drove had a removable film on the multi media screen but I didn’t notice anything on the multi info display. Looks like film coating maybe covering some particles in your photo but I understand wanting to wait for confirmation.
it might be a polarization film which is not meant to come off where some contaminants were introduced at the factory. As the little bit of picking seemed to chip off instead of peel, I suspect it was not meant to come off. If anyone can look at there gauge cluster and see if there is like a plastic film that seems to cover the whole screen with like a .1mm boarder around as if it looks like it can be peeled off, chances are it is normal and supposed to be there. I have suspicions though because it looks like the toyota dealership did not totally remove all the peel off stuff during the PID. I noticed the film over the speakers on the door today and peeled them off so I guess it is POSSIBLE there is something they missed on the dash.
