Well it got on the boat today so i guess i will see it shortly… Guardian gray limited awd with limited package. This is the first prius that is not red but they are currently in real short supply in this configuration. coming off a gen4 4-non touring, does anyone know if the map can be split or tri-split with other displays like gen4 or is it map only? Is there a splash screen you can override with your own startup again? Is seeing the cluster over the steering wheel as much of an issue as all the reviewers say?
To your last question, no, it has not been an issue at all for me. I really don't know what the reviewers are talking about, if you adjust the seat and steering wheel to easily look over the wheel at the gauge. Perhaps for some body types, but I just don't see it, although I too wondered before I sat in the car. In fact, I now like it because it is right in your line of sight for looking at the road. Congrats and good luck with the new car.
Congrats on your choice! Don't forget to post pictures when it gets here, many many months from now .
Not a problem at all. This is how you want to set it up. The part of the screen that's blocked by the wheel is empty of any graphics. My 7 inch display does split with things like Spotify as a such. Your larger screen will accommodate that function even better.
No, I test drove one earlier this week (ended up buying it) and it was not a problem at all. I suppose for some it could be (shorter people?) but I'm 6' and sit very low and it was completely visible. The wheel is smaller than other steering wheels on my previous cars, I think that helps.
Not at all. Honestly I think those that complain is most likely user error. You need to adjust both the steering wheel and seat height to get it right. I have no issue seeing the display. I’m 5’11.
Oh, you are touching a sore spot for me - When I start up there is the "Subscribe for world peace and your place in heaven" screen, almost always. Occasionally, like maybe twice in a hundred starts, it went back into CarPlay, but most times I have to press the CarPlay icon to get rid of the advertisement for Toyota Connect "Get Started" No there is no option to set your own start up screen message, at least that I have found and not in the operating manual that I recall in three readings top to bottom. Yesterday I used Apple Maps in CarPlay, and all day today it started right up in Apple Maps CarPlay, so maybe that is the secret.
on the gen 4 it was not explicit but you could override the startup screen. You had to have a picture in the right resolution saved as a specific file name. Then there was a way to import it and set it as default. When i started up my gen4 it would flash my avatar. I found out how to do this override from this forum, no manual discussed. look at post 9 Custom startup screen prius prime | PriusChat Granted the system was a little different in my gen4 with the larger hdd screen but it was possible. If i had the new prius in hand i would check to see if these options were there
the other thing I need to see is if you can change the color of the light accents. The dealership messaged me today to let me know the "car is in port and they are awaiting processing and scheduled delivery". Toyota tracker said the car finished production like 3 days ago. I am not sure what port the dealer is referencing. If it is a port here (long beach or seattle) then the tracker site is really slow to update. If it is a port in japan then it still is going to be quite a few weeks before I see this.
Not sure exactly which light accents you're talking about, but the answer is pretty much no. The blue(Prius) or red(Prius Prime) light strip on the dash is locked. The lights in the footwells are locked to white. The primary instrument cluster has no real colors to change. The infotainment screen can be set for light/dark/auto, but no real changes to colors other than the inversion. No one here has figured out how to change anything major on the infotainment screen. Don't know if it's possible or not. Best place to find out might be Tundra forums. They've had the same basic software for an extra year.
Well, I took delivery! Let the mods begin. The VIOFO dash cam has been installed (front and rear, wires totally hidden even going through the rubber tube leading into the hatch, ya done one prius you done them all-) The door sills are in The cat shield is installed The wheel locks are on The cargo net is in ---- The TRD trunk spoiler and rain deflectors are on the way ---- The pickup was very smooth* This is the first time in negotiations I secured an "out the door" price. I got it for the exact price I was expecting. Now that being said, When I looked at the original listing on the dealer website AND the original window sticker that was made available on the dealer website, the dock addons were called out: All weather mats including trunk Door edge guards Mud flaps Rear bumper protector Door bumpers (I could have sworn were also there). As you can see from the picture, lots are things are missing! I had the foresight to print out the dealer listing when I first left the deposit but I think it got cut off and did not list the door bumpers. When the car arrived at port, the listing on the dealer website disappeared! The dealer said they could not recall it when I was there. I called out the missing items and provided my printout. The window sticker on the car only called out the mats and trunk liner and they were indeed there. Anyway, having provided the printout from the dealer site they gave me an IOU for the edge guards, mud flaps, and bumper protector. As it did not clearly say the door bumpers, they did not provide an IOU for that..... The car was originally listed for $6k over MSRP dealer protection plan, not for the supposed dock addons. I offered on paying a max of $2k over MSRP providing they gave me $20k trade-in for my 2016. My 2016 had an accident on record from what the coal roller scraped my bumper (posts on prius chat), hail damage, was up on tires, but only had 30k miles on it. It was a fully loaded gen4 four (with heads up) that I added a spare tire to with all the toyota parts + had the appearance package installed + had the OEM foglights installed with a second switch to activate fog\daytime running lights. We "negotiated" and settled on $2700 over MSRP.
PS had things gone bad and they tried to tack on more fees in the finance office, I would have given them the choice: remove the fees and I will finance, keep the fees and I will buy it outright and come back when the check cleared. Thankfully I did not have to pull that trigger.
One strange thing though, on the valve cover it looks like it melted a bit. Seems superficial but I guess i will need to watch it. Anyone else detect this?
I have Waze and Apple Car Play on split display so I can see what's playing and have the map up. I have the 2023 awd limited in Cutting Edge. When you get yours I'd like to know if you can figure out how to turn the fog lights on. It's definitely not on the lights stalk. I have absolutely no problem with seeing the instrument cluster and I read reviews that it was a problem. I'm not quite certain what the issue is. The limited has a height adjustable driver's seat so I don't see a problem.
