YES! I was able to get in to a dealer and they have offered to fix my troubled white paint issue! They will do it only once through June 2025 if I recall correctly. I only have it at the top of the passenger side door- and I just started a small 1/4" at the top of the driver's side door. I've owned this for 5 years and 120K miles and have no intention of selling my 2014. Would you wait and just see how bad it gets or just do it now and get it over with?
It’s nothing as bad as what I’ve seen in pictures, but it does continue to flake right at the very top of the passenger door right under the window and has started to do the same on the driver side. iPhone ?
I am the third owner of my 2010. Have had it for about 7 years and it has 224,000 miles. A couple of years ago the Pearl While paint began popping off, in smaller chips at first but with time they became larger. It finally got so bad I knew I couldn;t afford to paint it so since the worst was the hood I found one in a salvage yard for $130 and made the easy replacement. It looked a lot better. But the popping and peeling continued and it was on every panel. Due to the high miles, some of the ABS brake light was now on, and the popping paint I thought I would just bite the bullet and trade it. Then I got a letter from Toyota saying we some year model Prius' with a couple of colors that have popping and peeling issues. If you have this problem get in touch with a Toyota dealer to have it evaluated. I did, they took it in and I got a new paint job on every metal panel. It wasn't just a quick fix either. They took it apart and stripped every metal panel. It looks like a new car. They gave me an itemized invoice detailing the work done and on the bottom of the last page was the retail cost of $9950+-, totally paid by Toyota. I love Toyota.
I don't recall any rusted areas as the paint popped off the primer. But they did disassemble all the panels that were needed. They also asked if I wanted them to paint over the dings and dents or get them all out for $500. I had them take them out.
I’m not sure you answered my question or gave advice for others only lol- I only have bad paint in two areas. Paint now or wait until more areas surface? iPhone ?
Sorry it took so long to get back here. I would call a Toyota dealer that has a body shop to talk with them about it. They will get your Serial# and tell you if your car qualifies for the program and if set up a time to take it in for assessment. Your picture shows a similar condition to what mine was. Edit: As others have said, it might be best to wait to see how bad it gets or ask that question to the body shop. Mine went a good while, maybe a year of not being too bad but then in a short time it got a lot worse. By the time I took it in most panels were affected.
Update. Toyota painted three panels- the issues they observed in their inspection last summer. I’m happy, just wanted to report back. iPhone ?
I’m sure I could have, I would probably not be interested in this shop price given that they bill Toyota $2600 for painting three panels. iPhone ?
I've got peeling on almost every panel, with some rusty areas on the roof. Took it in last October and got scheduled for a repaint in March... it will be here soon!
They haven't done anything yet - it's not March! But if I remember right, the plastics aren't included in the campaign. I don't have bad peeling on the plastics, just a few scrapes.
