Greetings y'all. After 19 years I've decided to retire the only car I've owned in my adult life, my 04 Prius @ 253,000. The brake actuator is failing and figured it was time. The actuator repair is just too much to justify the cost and my time. So I bought a super shiny 09 with 151,000 for $5200 last week. Everything seems in fine condition. Dr. Prius app reported all cells of battery nominal and otherwise no engine codes. My question is this. What would y'all do with the old Prius? I have half a mind to keep it and scrap it out for my own library of parts to keep my new 09 running or e-bay all the good stuff. But that also seems like a big hassle. What would you pull? (batter pack in my 04 was replaced in 2016). Thanks, Kyle
When you run across a used brake pump put it on the '05 and save it for a backup unless it's in real bad shape and you live in a rust area. The 09 is going to have that same problem too so might as well round up two of them or whatever it takes if you really going to just get rid of the '04 well then that's that a backup vehicle in my world is a good thing. Everything from the '04 can be transferred to the '09 for the most part there's a few pieces not so much
my last dead car, i donated it. i mailed the title, they came with a tow truck, zero hassle. at that particular moment in my life, the calculation made sense. if i was low on cash or had more space or time, i might make a different calculation. *edit - ok not exactly zero hassle. since i waited so long to make a decision, someone noticed my dead car parked in the same place for 4 weeks and they stole the license plate, used it to get free toll road access
