I am looking to see if anyone has had success, finding an aftermarket head unit to replace the factory radio with navigation and JBL speakers in a 2016 Prius V Three. I hate the small Map screen and outdated maps. I want something that is compatible with Apple CarPlay. Crutchfield says they do not recommend replacing the factory radio.
The dash kit from Metra is not good in my opinion. I tried it on my 2015 and it didn't fit, I had to trim tabs and it still looked awful. I'm about to buy one from Amazon specific for the Prius Alpha that has a 9" screen integrated in and from the communication I've had with them, it'll keep my steering wheel controls and factory backup camera. I'd lose satellite radio but I don't have it.
So the reason the dash kit doesn't fit is because for the facelift they changed the vents. Looks like we could swap to an older vent shroud and that would make the dash kit fit properly, at the potential expense of weird airflow?
If you have any success with this, can you share? I have a 2015 also, head unit is freezing, and I can't find anything good to replace. nM3axi
