Hey folks, Recently my 2010 has randomly started doing a single beep/chime (the same beep that alerts you to low fuel), but there are no warning lights and I'm not low on fuel. No indication at all that anything is wrong - just one random beeeep. The first time it happened I was by myself and figured it must have been a one-off, but then it happened again yesterday and my 15 year old was with me and asked me about it - so I know I'm not hearing things at least! haha Has anyone come across this before? When I have some more time I'm going to throw the OBDII scanner on it and see if there are any codes. Tried searching the forum but not finding much except one thread from 2016 for a 2nd gen - but it had no resolution.
Hatch is closed for sure.. fob battery? Good question. I feel like I changed it semi-recently - but the last few years have gone by so fast it's probably longer than I think. I can try swapping it and see what happens.
It has to be not only "closed for sure," but closed far enough for the latch clicks twice. When I had the rubber bumpers of the hatch misadjusted, I had intermittent beeps when the car hit bumps, along with flickering from the door warning light on the dash. Turned out the latch was only closed through the first click.
Update.. I’m an idiot. The Yellow exclamation light was blinking along with the chime - I just didn’t see it the first 2 times. Saw it the third time. Then remembered this has happened before when the oil was low.. and that was exactly the issue. I did my EGR in the winter, but sadly it seems like it was too little too late and now I have an oil burner.
I wouldn’t expect excessive oil consumption to be prevented by EGR cleaning; it’s mostly due to the original pistons/rings. Tacit admission from Toyota in attached. what’s the miles on it?
