carfax says it's white, toyota.com says it's black

    I'm looking at a 2008 Highlander Hybrid

    The weird thing is that Carfax says the Indiana Motor Vehicle Dept Vehicle color noted as White, but the pics online and Toyota's spec website says it's black.

    Vehicle Specification

    Is that odd?

    Often dealers use a generic photo. Ask Carfax to go look at it and tell you the color.

    carfax is riddled with errors, you're lucky this one is easy to catch. I wouldn't worry.

    is it carfax or is it the Indiana Motor Vehicle Dept giving Carfax bad data? i once got a ticket where the officer said my green car was blue.

    That would be tough to separate. My point is that carfax just runs with whatever they've been told, no vetting. Garbage in, garbage out.
