There is no difference in noise insulation or glass thickness in any of the US models. No clue about EU units. I also have no experience with previous generations, but I can tell you my 23 XLE is acceptably quiet on smooth roads, but can become noisy from the Toyo tire tread on rougher surfaces. In addition, the mechanical noise is quite low unless you really get your foot into the accelerator. That causes a temporary, but quite loud engine noise. As a daily drive, I find it more than acceptable and enjoy it immensely!
I'm sensing that my Prius on Ecopia tries is quietening. Perhaps that is due to the tires breaking in, or that I am becoming accustomed to the different noises on the G5, or a mixture of both. Regardless, I am happier today with the car than I was the day I drove it off the lot with 4 measly miles on it.
That is my experience as well, exactly as described. Quiet with the Toyo tires on smooth roads, and very loud as soon as road is not smooth. Engine is loud when it is being gassed.
This might not be true. Each of the three trim levels have different front door glass. I can confirm that my Limited has laminated glass in the front doors(that means the XSE+ has it as well). I'd love for some lower trim owners to confirm their front door glass to see which trim has what. All other glass is the same on all models except the LE(but not the SE) has a different windshield. I suspect the only difference is the size and shape of the black section around the rearview mirror area because the LE is the only trim that doesn't have auto sensing windshield wipers.

Looks like tempered all the way around for me and laminated on the front. Laminated glass is much more expensive than tempered.
The Ecopia EP422 Plus are only being used for North America. (Reference here). EP422 Plus 195/60R17 90H: RR class A, wet grip C, noise 69dB In Europe we're getting the apparently-quieter EP150 or EP510. EP150 195/60R17 90H: RR class A, wet grip B, noise 67dB EP510 195/50R19 88H: RR class C, wet grip B, noise 67dB The Bridgestone press release waffles on about the EP510 having their "ologic™" fuel-efficiency technology. Didn't stop it still scoring "C" though... I am also intrigued by the press release statement "In addition, in order to bring out the emotional design of the new Prius, the tire adopt new design on the side wall." Uh-huh? Did they put "#tyre" on it? I guess they could have done. The EP500 was created for the BMW i3, and the EP510 for the Prius, and they only exist in their sizes...
As I recall from the New Car Features and parts databases, the windscreen is always laminated, and the front door windows are optionally laminated. There's also an option of more-tinted rear window glass. I don't know have any info about which countries/variants get what. One thing I saw in the parts database that I've not seen actually offered in any market is bi-tone paint schemes. Some of the colours (yellow/red/white/silver, IIRC) can be paired with a normal (non-panoramic/solar) black-painted roof. If there was to be a "2024 Prius" for the US market, that's something "new" they could offer...
As others (and me!) noted, I find the 2023 with 19" tires to be fairly loud on a non-smooth road surface. What I wonder, is what the difference would be with the 17" tires? I love the car, wanted the XSE for the interior, seats, etc. but wish it had the 17" tires, for the reason I suspect it would be quieter, maybe ride/handle a bit better (although it already is great!) and just a more convenient, durable (I think) size. Not a strong complaint, but the move to larger tire sizes trend just doesn't really make sense the more I learn about it.
Agreed. I plan on moving totally over to aftermarket 17" wheels and tires come winter, and sell the set I have now at that time.
I’ve had mine for a few days now. My initial impression is that the ride, when up to speed, is very quiet. It’s getting there that is load. That gas engine sounds like a leaf blower heating up to speed on freeway ramps. It works, it’s just sounds a little laborious. iPhone ? Pro
@Jeffnorton I think the reason it's so loud when it's accelerated hard it that the Prius was built for efficiency and hard acceleration is the opposite of efficient. Not much that can be done about that, I'd think. @GeoJ and @HACKSAW at least the 19 inchers are not true low profile tires. Around 2014 when I got my Prius PlugIn I looked at a Corolla S in the showroom and shook my head at the really low profile tires it sported.
It's disconcerting. On the plus side, the base stereo is more than adequate and can really pump out loud tunes to drown the noise out. To be fair, it only happens if you're slamming on the gas to merge or pass. The rest of the time it's pretty quiet. Pixel Tablet ?
Admittedly an unfair reference, but I just upgraded from a 2003 Gen1 to the 2023 Prime. Luckily no cops for this first week as I've been unintentionally speeding a lot. At least on decent streets and on electric power, I have NO IDEA what my speed is. I had gotten used to judging speed by tire noise on my old car. I can't do it with the new machine. Maybe over time I will be able to, but certainly not yet. It is so much quieter. will
