I watched the whole video. I’m honestly glad the engine is not complete redesign and built from the ground up. Instead it’s more of an improvement from an already good engine. Makes me feel more relieved that I bought the first year of the new generation. Hoping to have no early adopter issues arise with this model year.

I’m not worried my wife has the first RAV4 hybrid in 2019 had one recall for fuel tank, sending unit that shows how much left on the fuel gauge! As with everything Toyota fixed it have not had a bit of trouble otherwise! Will see, but I am liking everything about the 23 Prius! It’s more refined than mine GEN two or three! It almost has a luxury feel to it,not just for the mileage snobs anymore somebody that wants to have a good looking and performing car that gets good gas mileage!

Nice but complicated. Just as he said, "Expensive options."

I'll keep my simple and inexpensive Gen 3 Prius v as long as a can. The one, not a Prime, that I saw at the dealer was marked up to $38k.

Even if the HV battery, brake booster or head gasket went out, it would be cheaper to repair than even the $10k dealer mark up.

There's MSRP options if you're willing to spend a couple hours of your time, and possibly be on a waitlist. If that's not worth saving $5-10k over, then I don't know what to tell ya.

Best thing to do is if you're even thinking about Gen5 at all, get on a waitlist now. Who knows what'll happen in a year and what your situation is when you finally get a phone call from an MSRP dealer.

Most of the other advanced options are dripple down from Lexus or other Toyota cars so they should have a proven track record as well. Just the prime seems pretty new besides the Rav4 Prime.. and the solar panel charging is probably the only completely outstanding feature.

At that price, I'm considering a Tesla.

It's actually an interesting development, Toyota known for "cheaper" but solid cars is now ( depending on trim & market) more expensive and premium. On the other hand the Model 3 / Y could be now the solid and cheap choice.

tesla base model 3 with color and interior of my choice will be built and delivered in august for $31k after tax credits.
prius prime, none available, all incoming accounted for, you can order one and hope to get it next year, lucky to find a dealer that will sell at msrp.

The only thing I have heard wrong from Car care nut was Toyota 0w-16 is the same as Mobil 1 because that’s who makes it for Toyota. But tests show it’s not the same. He jumped to wrong conclusions on that.

No more cat converter worries for you. You have a heaven like yard there. I sense a wife with the look. It’s good to not get locked in to a product and look at all the options. I bought a used but low mileage Prime, which I guess will be my last car.

That's more like what a Tesla is worth. Their quality control is abysmal. There's a reason they are such a "good deal" and Prii are selling for mucho markups.

Oh hell, I read the title like this:

Should you buy the GEN 5 car care nut says no!

Then to compound my problems, while watching the video:

Would you believe this guy's video is one of the only Prius videos I didn't complete watching? I found it incredibly boring! I will try to finish it one of these days. Needs more 0-60 runs! :ROFLMAO:;)

I'm kidding! But yeah, a little too mundane in the delivery. Great if you plan on becoming a mechanic!

Just trying to help out, and bring content to the platform! Yes this is from mechanics perspective, that’s why I found it might be interesting for some?
