Windshield Wipers

I use the Toyota refills. They seem to last longer than any others I've used.

 

My Prime and my Mazda use the same type of wipers. The refills from the dealer or an on line source don't cost a lot, they're easy to change, and they last a long time. Trico Exact Fit Beam 16-17B and 28-17B fit the wiper arms (also NAPA Exact Fit), but just changing the refills is cheap & easy.

 

Ditto. I discovered that they sell two kinds. So I'm running one kind on my wife's car and the other on mine. Hers has the less expensive Sightline. Mine has the El Primo OEM blades. I couldn't get inserts for either unless I bought a 5 or 10-pack. I forgot how many per pack but that didn't seem like a good idea. I thought that odd because I never had a problem buying the inserts for Gen 2 or 3.

We'll see which lasts longer. Not a perfect test, because my car gets more miles, but hers spends more time in the sun.

 

I bought a pair of spare wiper blades (R: 85212-47130 MSRP $29.99 and L: 85222-47130 MSRP $29.99) and a pair of spare wiper blade refills (R: 85214-78010 MSRP $9.99 and L: 85214-47110 MSRP $9.99) soon after purchasing my 2017PP. I paid ~$70 for all four items, but I have never used any of them yet. My 2017 PP original wiper was still in very good condition when I traded in 3 years later, and I only had 2020 PP for 10 months. I have had a very bad experience losing a wiper blade while driving during a bad snowstorm. Since then, I do not go anywhere without a pair of spare blades in my trunk.

 

You can find them more like $5-7 each online, although the shipping cost may increase the final cost. I had to have a pair of spare wiper blade assembly, just in case the wiper blade is unlocked and lost in a storm which is what happened on my other car. Having just a refill blade won't do any good in that situation. I may have bought an aftermarket wiper blade for my spare, but at that time there was no third-party wiper blade with the fitting that worked on my 2017 PP. I also wanted to try an aftermarket silicon blade refill that may fit on the OEM blade assembly but never got to it.

 

The blades on my 2017 lasted longer than the car did (traded in after 4 years). I’ve never had blades that lasted a year before. If the blades go out on my new 2021 I’m going with the factory ones

 

I installed a set of wiper blade refills from the dealer $22. It's probably the easiest wiper replacement there is. I didn't want to play around with aftermarket replacements and some univeral adapters that may or may not last.

The originals were 4 years old and still serviceable but I figured it's better to replace them when it's convenient than to wait for them to fail on a rainy trip somewhere.

 

Those Michelin wipers can break. Mine did and thank god it did not scratch the window. On little tab of a little plastic part broke and the whole thing twisted and came off.

 

I Have a 2017 prius 4.
My toyota will not carry the refills because they come in packs of 10 and that is the only way they will sell them which costs near $100 and 8 of them will rot before you can use them.

They are saying the replacement parts are
85212-YZZ1R-TM
85212-YZZ1T-TM
85242-47071 (Rear I think.)

I also see
8522247130 for left front which seems to be the slimmer wiper bar
85212-47130 for right
The pictures are different and weird for the Toyota site.

Not sure which is best or original. Do know they will not sell refills at my Toyota... or any of them in Charlotte, NC

 

The Mrs. stopped at a dealership to buy new wiper blade refills for our '17 Prime. She came home and asked if she had been given the right things. 85214-47110, $9.95, check. 85214-10130, bag of ten, $9.95, hmmmm. I looked up the number, and it was for the C-HR, but some listings showed it for both the C-HR and certain years of the Prime (and we know all years take the same wipers). I snaked one out of the bag, and...it fit! I have no idea how a sack of ten is priced like one, but the dealer is an hour away, and I'm not stopping in to ask. 85214-78010 is the correct number for a single refill.

 

Bosch 3397014245 includes both 28" and 16" inch wiper blades and fit perfectly on my 2019 Prius Prime. Frist time replacing since purchased in late 2020. 16" rubber completely failed. Fortunately didn't scratch glass.

Just bought Bosch 3397014245 from o'reilly yesterday for $27. Comes with both blades. Works great!
