If this has been covered, forgive the novice...is the vertical crack in the display plastic (not the screen, but the plastic covering the speedometer area) normal? In other words, is this a 2 piece part of plastic or should I be concerned that mine is defective?
I know what you are referring to; that little crack seems a little low quality or abnormal for a Prius, but you have nothing wrong. That's totally normal. Enjoy your Prius
I didn’t even notice it so I had to go check it out. Yep two pieces. Wonder why? Why not one piece. Must be an assembly line issue.
I figured it was just an 'expansion joint' like in concrete. With the temperature changes a dash undergoes in sun and such, a long rigid piece of plastic could break easily.
I would think that you could provide for that on the edges. As an old (very) assembly line worker I still think it is a ease of assembly issue. FWIW
when it was really hot it was almost closed, in the 90'sF by hot. I noticed it in November of last year. and it was a lot wider than in August

I'm with Brad. I looked last night and got nothing. Please post a picture just so that when I find it later I know not to worry about it.
I agree 100% with FlyingPrius: I've got the gap as well and that is about the only thing I looked at in my new car and thought, "Huh! A little shoddy for a Prius..." I'm just surprised they put it together like this.
Whew...its not just me I am soooo glad that others have this. I was starting to wonder if mine had cracked. I went out to my car in the garage and even knowing where it was, I couldn't see the split. I took 2 pictures with flash. The 1st picture is from just forward of the steering wheel. The 2nd photo is right on top of the crack.
Hmmm... Can't say I've ever noticed that before. I'll have to go down and see if my baby has a crack problem... Intervention starts at home
