Wonder if this is worth biting the bullet for. I heard the battery degrades with time not mileage though, would it be alright to run a battery health check (I bought a scanner recently) to see?

and the engine design is a nightmare, but at 30k you could get ahead of it if you like diy

Yeah they're cute little cars some say they don't get as good a gas mileage as the Prius I'm not exactly certain why but that does come up on other forms some guy came along in here a few months ago and was talking about changing some wires in his gas mileage went up I wouldn't think the hybrid wiring that this guy was changing to larger diameter thicker copper etc etc like the stereo people do you know with amplifiers but he swears up and down after he did that his mileage went up I don't think anything huge but you know that's the kind of thing I have heard about these pretty much it's the same drive line and everything is the Prius You got some kind of upgraded I guess stuff because it's a Lexus You got crappy seats until 2012 I think whenever the soft text came out like in my 13 persona If you're not getting those I would say that's one of the biggest benefits of even having that car is the nicer soft tex seats that would be in it but I think like the Prius that started in 11 or 12 year that is but I'm not positive of that that's easy to look up on Toyota.com or any of that stuff you look at but I wouldn't want the regular fake hide nylon backed seats prior to that like in my 2010 solar roof loaded JBL car but not a persona those seats are flaking and will cut the backs of your legs in shorts kind of uncomfortable like Volvo seats of the '70s when you look in some of those cars in the seats are just trashed mine aren't trash they're just starting to come undone and it's very uncomfortable.

Sure let’s see what the scanner will reveal about battery health.

Hybrid battery health may hinge on how the 30k miles accumulated. If there’s a lengthy hiatus somewhere in its life, could be trouble.

FWIW our ‘10 Prius has 60k miles, haven’t noticed any degradation.

Yeah 60K I wouldn't really expect to start seeing too much business with the battery either maybe at about 1:20 something like that. Hell I had good health and a generation too all the way up to the 11th year Dr Prius and all that other nonsense that everything was just fine a year later it was in in the toilet completely but that's okay it was 13 years old then got no problems with that so in one year or nine months we went from green very good health blah blah blah to complete fail ice engine running all the time 36 mi to the gallon.

And one day you'll plop in that bad boy and noticed that battery health is deteriorated drastically whatever he said 2012 so and so you're right at 10 years old so you're getting close right around 10 to 13 years generally speaking these batteries want to take a dump I mean there was just a dude posting he had 400 and something thousand on his original battery I told him not to get too far away It is possible I mean obviously it's possible the man says that's the case he believes it and I believe in my guess but at the some point that thing's just going to fall on its face I guess I would be waiting for it too I wouldn't change anything until it did.

@Tombukt2 I’ll definitely jump back on here IF I start having any signs of battery issues, (or even if seemingly unrelated). I would not hold my breath if I were you. The car sat for months when I was trying to add daytime running lights a long time ago….
