There's a whole fresh crop of 2023 Pri. The regular Prius comes in LE, XLE, and Limited models, all of them offered with a four wheel drive variant. The Prius Prime comes in SE, XSE and Premium models, none of them with four-wheel drive. So many choices I don't know what to do. Does anyone here have any opinions about which one has the smoothest and most comfortable ride? Are they any different? Are they all the same? I've been pining for a nice hatchback (trunks don't begin to compare). My home charging station has grown dusty and sad. I miss driving around in electric. However the reason I went away from my first gen Prime in the first place was to get a softer ride. Help me Prius-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope...
Pretty straight forward, the models with the 17" rims ride a touch softer. All are what I'd call a tight or controlled ride. None are really soft if that is what you're after. I definitely would not use that as the only criteria for purchasing a 2023 Prius of any kind.
Also, the space in this new gen 5 rear hatch is not what it used to be...smaller now and you may not like the limited view out the new small rear window. If u want the fake leather seats thinking your 'stuck' with the larger tires. Get it, they stick better to the road lol...could not help myself.
The SE and XSE will have the stiffest ride. The 17" tires of the LE or LE awd would be the best along with good touring tires from Michelin. Better rides would be in the Venza or Rav4 hybrids, especially the RAV4 Prime with its extra battery weight and range.
I had overlooked them, guess I'm just not used to noticing them. Far better especially the Rav4 Hybrid or Primes that are not the sport suspension SE or XSE versions. Interior room is superior. The Rav4 Prime has very good ride and acceleration as well. Obtaining one is the same as the Prius, you reserve one that is coming in and expect to pay more. In today's market it is easier and more cost effective to buy a Tesla.
My local dealer claims to have a slightly used type 3 Tesla for sale, but if you go down there it is nowhere to be found. It is supposed to have a very minimalist interior, and I am OK with that. I suspect that you need to use a touch screen to turn on *anything*, and that would be iffy, but I still wouldn't mind trying one.
the tesla is supposed to have superior voce commands, according to some owners. and you get the $7,500. rebate if you owe enough taxes, so the price can be lower than prime, base v base.
If you want full EV this is where I would put my money!! the new Volvo EX30, I still might get on the list!! My Black limited should be here by the weekend
I am NOT impressed with Volvo drive train quality or technology. And I'm speaking for models as recent as 2023. Toyota's put them to shame in about every category besides interior finish and ego sustainment.
God, if I could put a Volvo interior in a Toyota chassis, I would be a happy man. (and styled by Aston Martin )
The 17" wheels should ride the best due to extra sidewall in the tire, but our XLE on 19" wheels and Michelin tires rides fantastic. Firm and controlled but not harsh at all especially compared to the Tesla Model 3 and Y. The Tesla is more fun to drive aka much quicker, but I still love the way our Prius drives and think it's plenty quick.
