The Climate button on the side of my multi-function display does not work. Pressing it does not produce the Climate controls on the screen. The other three buttons (Audio / Info / Display) work fine. Is this likely to require replacing the entire unit, or is there some kind of a mechanical contact back there behind the Climate button that I could replace? Thanks! 2008 Base.
Can you operate the climate control without the MFD from the buttons on the steering wheel? That would be kind of important I would think or is the whole system down yeah you can take an MFD apart that you see laying on the backseat of a place like LKQ and have a look The button could possibly just be bad it's remotely possible that's what electronic techs spend their life doing. You could discover that so and you could even take the part out of another MFD and put it on yours or what have you they're not worth that much to begin with unless you have the nav system that seems to make people think these things are worth a small fortune there's a guy here locally in town that sells the nav MFD and he's asking $400 for everyone he produces of course I don't think he sells very many
It sounds like the OP is talking about the climate button on the bezel of the display, not any button on the steering wheel. The bezel is separately removable, and I would certainly try cleaning the climate button contacts, if it were mine, before going any deeper.
I was just asking if his air could work at all or not. Whether he can bring it up on the MFD is obviously a thing but is he cool in the car? Which apparently in another post he states he can work everything from the steering wheel like you say clean the contacts see what you got
Hi. Yes. I can operate the climate system, insofar as buttons are available, from the steering column. the problem is that when I press the button on the bezel, the climate screen does not appear on the NFD. So no access to defrosters, temperature, etc.. All three other buttons do work. So it might be contacts. If so, do I have to take the MFD out, or can it somehow be accessed by somehow removing the "Climate" button? Thank you for getting back to me.!
I'm not sure the exact steps for removing that button bezel (they'll be in the repair manual), but I'm pretty sure it's not hard. I once bought a Gen 2 from AutoBeYours and noticed they had slapped the wrong bezel on (one without the nav buttons, for an MFD with nav) and when I pointed it out, they swapped bezels in, like, three minutes.
