I don't know - the crease looks like it could be at about the right height to allow for good hip and shoulder width (seating comfort) and then narrow it in quickly to reduce the cross-sectional area. Since they are unlikely to bring the drag coefficient down more (wheel well covers anyone?), the frontal area is the only other thing to go after.

Personally, I like the styling, although I'm not buying until they get the plug-in ability (well, I'll probably buy anyhow if they don't come through by the '09 model).

    WOW, it looks good.
WOW, was I right about the current front end aerodynamics being bad. You see all those new scoops, dive plate, etc. It'll track 10 times better then the current one. (BTW-the 06 not only has a deep front end, they smoothed the underside up front as well).

    The nose/hood looks....stupid.

What's the point? Seems like it would worsen the aerodynamics. Personally, I'll take function over form. While I'm all for "style" I can't see that stupid, lumpy hood unless it significantly improves mileage. If it does the opposite....what's the point?

I also think it's a bit too angular. I like the smooth, roundness of the Prius.

Looks like Honda futurized the Prius for their car. Why can't the new Prius nose be more like the Honda? I also love that Honda burgundy.

Maybe the new Prius will be available in a nice, dark, rich blue?

Am I the only one who thinks the Honda is goofy looking?? Bah. I'll stick with the Prius.

What turned me off on the 2008 Prius is the angle of the front end and the fact that it only seats 4 adults. We are trading space for more milage. How much more space is lost and it doesn't show from the picture. No thanks, I will keep my 2006.

Maybe it is just that I have not had my first cup of coffee and can't see clearly, but I like both cars. I think that Prius looks pretty sweet and come the end of '08 my car will likely be ready for replacement. So long as DMV can work out the HOV sticker deal, I would buy that car without hesitation. I like the proposed changes in design, from what is visible. But I need the HOV stickers too.

    ml194152,

    I agree with you.

Toyota, please don't move in this direction. Fix all the "wish list" items on PC and everyone. Improve what you got and more will come.

I was planning to trade my baby in for a 2009 but if this is what the next generation PRIUS will be. I doubt that I will buy the next generation PRIUS.

Agree! It looks too much like the current Civic.

Yeah it is. If I had my choice and the two pictures were accurate, I'd take the Civic, no question.

Well, given that the sun has also published verified pictures of UFO's, I'm sure their Prius pictures are real and not made-up for this story :D

    >>Recently, an article appeared in the Sun tabloid and on a UFO website (www.theyfly.com) claiming that the Center for Inquiry-West and the Independent Investigations Group (IIG) have by default proven that Billy Meier's UFO photos are real. <<

And given that the Sun is such a reliable newspaper, perhaps their 2009 Prius photo was actually a UFO:

I can't think of the name and a search turns up too many hits.
The Civic looks to me like one of those dogs. English perhaps? The ones with the sleek lines. I think I've only ever seen them brown. Can anyone visually think outside the lines and come up with what I'm thinking?

An English Bull Terrier? The head shape is similar. Kind of.

    Yeah!! That's it.
From the side, I think that from the side, it's a pretty good match.

I'm glad that I could figure out what you were talking about. Although, perhaps I should be worried because I could figure it out from your description: ...one of those dogs, English, sleak lines, brown. Scary, I knew what Tony was thinking.

I agree. I don't know why people tend to like to drive cars that looks like those only available in sci-fi movies.

Agreed, I know this is a prius site, but Wow that Honda is stunning, to be fair I thought I'd throw it in, moderators can zap me if necessary LOL  it has the flow of the Prius II, notice anything weird about the mirrors?
