Has anyone replaced the a/c condenser on a 2012 Prius V and is there a video for it? I can buy a new condenser for @ $210 and prefer not to spend $1187 at the dealership to do it.
Have not done it personally but from what I have seen the inverter radiator and the condenser come out together after removing the bumper cover, hood latch support assembly, hoses, fan shroud and pipes. Then the inverter radiator and built in condenser dryer are removed. The old condenser will have oil in it so the new one has oil added along with a new dryer. I would have a pro evacuate and charge.
I wouldn't buy a aftermarket one, mine was replaced with one through the insurance and only lasted two years! It corroded and was driven sparingly during the winter.
If you do replace the condenser yourself, you need to have the system properly evacuated and recharged with new refrigerant and the correct oil. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
