I bought my 2020 Gen 4 used. This AM I called Toyota to see how big of a deal it was to shut of the totally annoying back up beeper. The person I talked to said they could only turn it down, not off and charged $325 ish to do it. Grrrr... Did I ask the wrong question or something. And car other non dealer service shops do this? Thanks in advance!
I think Dr Prius app will do it, at least reduce it to one beep. I like the back up beep, actually wish it was more to the point, say a voice saying “you’re in reverse”, over and over, but that’s another discussion.
They can reduce it to one beep. You can do it yourself with an ODBII programer. You can use an old cellphone/tablet and a Bluetooth adapter. I use this.but it does much more than you need.
here you go: Dr. Prius & the 2021 Prime LE | PriusChat or PM me and we can do it in about 5 minutes.
No; your just turning off an option on a menu. The car isn't running when this is done - only the computer is on.
Just buy the Dr. Prius app for your phone and a compatible ODBII scanner and use Dr. Prius to do it. Easily less than $50 and 10 mins of fiddling with the dongle and the app.
I used the free version of Dr. Prius to do mine, way back then. The cost was only the Bluetooth OBDII dongle. If that helps
I just ordered a OBD2 to Bluetooth dongle for $5 from AliExpress (China) ....when It arrives, I'll install DrPrius on my cellphone and shut off that beeping. (2020 Prius L Eco)
A shop did it no charge. It was in a screen the BOE thing opened on the dash board display, rather than in the BOE innards. It also shut off the seat belt reminder. I was seriously getting "beep fatigue" as I backed out of my driveway. I learned to ignore them all
I "rented" the Carista app for a month and adjusted some of the settings that the stealerships charges way too much to do.
