If I had a wayback machine, I would have kept my windowmaker.

Price tripled compared to just 5 years ago.

I bought a 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE in early November 2022 in SE Texas, new sight unseen on the phone from California. It had 3 miles on the odometer. They had about $1500-1600 in dealer add ons on it . Got it for MSRP plus the add ons.
My sister picked it up for me and stored it for about 3 weeks until I moved to SE Texas to my new house.
She only has about 1850 miles on her, I obviously don't drive much. I made 2 200 mile round trips with mostly highway, and probably less than another 200 more highway miles.
It was showing somewhere around 53 mpg, when I reset it after burning out the dealership free gas. Since then, driving it pretty much like a regular car, it is showing 52.7 mpg the last 1300 miles.
I got $14.50 gas a few days ago, the expected miles to empty went up a little over 300 miles. I got a little over 5 gallons.
I have gotten several 5-10 mile trips when it was warmed up at 70-98 mpg.
Short 1 mile trips to the grocery store when not already warmed up are usually high 30's to mid 40's.
It seems to get best mileage at 20-50 mph on country roads with minimal stop signs/ red lights. I usually get 60-80 mpg depending if there is any traffic.

    Thanks for your input!

I'm at 63.4 MPG for the past 500 miles, doing mainly city driving and still about 15% highway. On the highway I go 60 only.

I reset the odo when I last filled up and will see if the on-board computer is correct.

On my Gen 4 Prius Prime, MFD consistently overstates the fuel economy by 5 mpg. So, 63.4 mpg would be 58.4 mpg real, which is what I would expect for a Corolla Hybrid. On my Gen 4 Prius Prime, I get around 70 mpg on the MFD in HV driving with no SOC drop, which is 65 mpg real. I was able to get 110 mpg actual (120 mpg on MFD) on a long stop-and-go freeway round trip on a warm day on multiple occasions.

With really careful driving, you would get around 85 mpg on Gen 4 Prius Prime MFD. So, it sounds like your Corolla Hybrid mpg is about 25% less than the Gen 4 Prius Prime mpg, which sounds reasonable.

The main downside of the Corolla Hybrid is that it doesn't come with BSM, RTCA, and parking sensors, at least in cheaper trim. For me, these are must and lack of them is a dealbreaker.

Also, at this point, I would not downgrade to a non-plug-in car. I am surprised that you bought a non-plug-in car. BEV driving feels much better and is also much better on the environment.

The new Corolla Hybrid is not off by 5 MPG, several reviews have shown that it is spot on.

I'm at 214 miles and the tank is 3/4 full. That would be around 800 miles out of 11.4 gallons, and that's rather 70 MPG, not 58.

My 2023 Corolla LE has RTCA and BSM. It also has safety sense 3.0.

I got my car for $24,390, at MSRP, no dealer options, no dealer tricks. There is no Prime available for that price, not even close. By the time I factor the much higher price for a prime, and the dealer mark-up, and the much higher battery replacement costs in, I will never save that through the MPG factor. I drive 150 miles a day without stopping for recharging, so EV is only a fraction to begin with.

I also got my car new without waiting. There are no Primes in stock at MSRP, at least not in my state. Most folks wait for a long time. Time I would miss out on making money with the car.

I haven't tried to figure the actual mpg at the pump. I filled it all the way up twice, these junky pumps in Texas don't turn off until after it is full...lol
I drive so little that I'll put $15 or 20 in and it last 4-8 weeks. I got gas on an 1/8 tank June 1st trying to the quadruple rewards points at Kroger station (would've been $0.80 off / gallon, but I misunderstood their rewards program and my points expired May 31.
I just got 5 gallons at the Exxon station instead ($2.85/ gallon)
My " miles to empty" computer thing went up over 300 miles (60/ gallon), but it always seems to overestimate miles to empty. But I've never gotten near empty.

I still have my window sticker, but don't remember my exact price , but with the dealer add ons and TTL, it was a little over $29,000 out the door. I missed out on the $500 military discount because I was in escrow on my Texas house, and the $500 off was contingent on financing some with Toyota. I was told not to use or open any new credit until after closing, but my lender approved of me paying cash...lol
My "want list" that I didn't get were the rear cross traffic thing and the lane change mirror flasher thing.
My only complaint after 6 months is that I have problems with android auto. It doesn't work wirelessly, and the wired connection is buggy, it cuts off sometimes, sometimes it comes back on in a minute and other times I have to pull over and jack with it
