Looking to buy 2015+ Prius v My question is what are the differences in trim levels? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
A 2015+ Prius v doesn’t exist according to the official brochures from Toyota. Prius v are the van style Prius, heard a sub forum exist but I don’t post unrelated Prius there as I follow forum rules and policies
This site is great for brochures from previous years: Auto-Brochures | home the 2015 Prius v page: https://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Prius/Toyota_US%20PriusV_2015.pdf
I could have sworn TapaTalk noted this as a Prius v (wagon) post yesterday but this morning it says “Gen 3”! My apologies….
The plus means or above. Sorry short hand confuses people. Stands for 2015 to 2017 since 2017 is the last year they were made. Not sure why all that needed to be typed out. In the Prius app we are typing in it looked to me I was posting in the Prius v forum. If that's not so then maybe the Prius chat app should be more obvious at what one is doing. Thank you . Do you happen to know if there are any changes in 2016 and 2017. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Usually i flag the post so the thread gets moved to the appropriate sub forum so Prius van can owners can reply. this time I won’t do it so this thread will get minimal replies from nonprius van owners. muahaha
It does say posted in gen 3 but I tried to post in the v section. So I suggest the app isn't very clear where it is posting to. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
If you want a v wagon buying the 2015 through 2017 is the best option. Resist the temptation to buy a 2012 through 2014 because of flawed pistons and piston rings. Be aware that the 2015 through 2017 v are still gen3 Prii, with most of the gen3 flaws. In order of expense, blown head gaskets or engines are becoming too common. Next you have a hybrid battery which could go bad in your ownership. The battery is matched in price by the brake actuator/booster which is known to fail. You can also experience a bad inverter. However this problem is still covered by warranty in most cases but it can cause a sudden stranding without warning. Smaller issues include egr clogging, electric water pumps failing and water and oil buildup in the intake manifold. Buying a gen3 to save money can get expensive especially when most mechanics would rather not diagnose or work on them. Which forces many to rely on the dealer unless they are an advanced diyer or have access to an independent hybrid shop. By the way, the Prius v wagon was called Prius+ in Europe and Prius α in Japan. It was available with a lithium battery in Europe and Japan but lithium was not offered in the US. In Japan the car was produced through 2021.
Priuschat works fine on my regular iPhone browser (Safari); not sure why these apps are even needed. And some of the apps add this subnote, "posted on my iphone" or something like that, for what?
