DICE Prius iPod Integration Unit now works for the 2006!

    I just called them, and they were very friendly and polite. As you say, they indicate they still don't have a final resolution. I asked them if they had a "notification list" to let people know when it is fixed. The lady I was speaking to checked, and it turns out they do. So I had them add me to the list. Others may want to get on that list too. Hopefully they'll let us know. To me, it's not a show stopper (it's still better than nothing), but I sure wouldn't mind getting a fixed one. :)

    I talked to a guy named Zoltan (ext 111) who said they had problems with the first units and there still are problems when used in an '07 Prius, but for '04-'06 units the problem is solved. He didn't elaborate on the difference between '06 and '07 and only said the problem was software related. Hopefully more people who have gotten replacements will comment soon.

    Very helpful, but it looks like Zoltan may have been speaking a bit too soon. It *may* be resolved, but they're not 100% sure yet. Personally, I'm content to wait on the list until they can be sure...

    Yes, sorry to say, that I am having problems with the new unit not showing the correct information...I guess we have to wait for a fix...

    I take my iPod out of the car every time I leave...could that be the problem?...do people who leave their iPods in place have less problems?

    I leave mine in all the time and have problems as well. I just got my replacement unit today, so I'll install it later, but after hearing your report I'm not very hopeful.

    I leave mine in and have the problem, too. My replacement unit arrived yesterday and I will try it out today. The summary of Helga's reply to Mr. Zorg is very similar to what they told me. I decided to try out the "old" replacement unit to help provide feedback to them as much as hoping to solve the problem. But most likely all of us with 2006-7 will have to replace the original units with units having the new programming, once it has been tested of course.

    I am from Germany and driving a Prius II 2006 (with Intelligent Park Assist and Navigation) and hearing music with an iPod Video 30Gb. I want to buy the following items:

    DICE iPod Car Integration Unit
    DICE iPod Cradle w/ Video Output

    In the forum thread you ask for contact by customers out of US. I have try it per PM, but get an error message, that your PM is disabled or full.

    So looks like there's still not resolution for the 2006. Bummer, I'm really wanting to order one, but will not untill it's working correctly. The display is really important, it's a major reason to get the unit.

    I'm considering ordering one as well, but I'll wait for the problems to be resolved.

    On another note, did anyone ever resolve the issue when when you have a factory XM unit? I have a 2006 Prius, and I had the factory unit installed shortly after they became available in May. I'd like to add the DICE unit if the problems get resolved but I haven't seem a post from a successful install on a system that contained a factory XM unit. Do you have to daisy chain, or is the appropriate port empty?

    Inquiring minds want to know...

    I don't have the factory XM, but the connection is the same port that the DICE goes into. The DICE connector is a "Y" connector. You plug the XM connector into that, and then plug the "Y" connector into the radio.

    I sent a message to Danny. He said he was getting in a shipment this Friday and that they would be going out shortly there after. Hopefully, you've got yours by now.

    I ordered mine today. Look forward to hooking it up.

    Okay so what's the word now? Is anybody still having trouble with these units? Is anybody NOT having trouble with these units? Do they know what's going on with the trouble people have been having?
    I'm still thinking of getting one but I'm still worried by all the problems i've heard everybody having.

    Would anybody recommend something else instead which they think is a better solution?

    I've got christmas money burning a hole in my pocket just ASKING to be spent on this, an IPod and speakers but I want a unit that WORKS!

    I got a unit for Christmas and it didn't work. Couldn't get any track info, change songs, etc from the head unit or steering wheel. It was basically an ipod with speakers. One other thing I noticed is that some songs with a lot of bass had some distortion not present while using the AUX jack. Call for support and they sent me a new unit. According to UPS it was delivered this morning. Hopefully this one works. I'll post an update tonight.

    Hopefully the units I received with this shipment won't run into the problems that we've been running into lately.

    I received the latest shipment of units Friday after a big delivery snafu with FedEx (they delivered them to the wrong address). About 15 were going out today and then I saw that the Post Office was closed today. How convenient.

    I also received a HD DICE unit and plan on installing it this week and testing it out. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

    I haven't heard back from anybody at DICE on the emails I sent over the holidays. They probably have a big backlog. :) I too eagerly await a remedy as I'd love to get mine fixed.
