how much time/drive it takes to fully recharge your prius battery without plug-in charge ? please give me an estimate, thanks
A regular Prius as opposed to a Prime? It will not ever fully charge the battery. The car leaves a buffer at the top and bottom of the charge range that is invisible to your meter. It will go to full bars if you go down a large enough mountain. The car wants to keep the battery in the middle so there is room to store energy and room to borrow energy as needed.
So EV mode in regular Prius is not worth it ? I was expecting 25 miles on EV mode at low speed city drive.
I think you are thinking of the EV mode of the regular Prius which is different from that of Prius Prime. Yes, for a regular Prius, a very short distance of low-speed EV mode is possible when you have a full battery, but on Prius Prime, the 100% SoC is only achieved by charging from the wall. EV range available is ~25 miles or more at speed all the way to 84mph IIRC until the EV range SoC displayed is depleted. You can charge the battery SoC up to 80% using the Charge Mode by running a gas engine that will give you ~20miles of EV drive but that will be less efficient (or at the least more costly) than just driving on HV mode in most cases.
A regular Prius is full self-contained and doesn't charge from outside sources. It maintains its battery charge automatically. The battery will never fully charge as shown on the screen because it maintains a charge around 60% for longevity. It also gives a buffer in case you go down a steep hill or a longer moderate hill. You can use the battery buffer to recharge instead of using your brake pads. Well it's good for 2-3km but it's not meant to be driven in EV mode. It's meant to be driven with either engine or mostly engine with battery assist or when coasting or under light load, then EV mode. 40 km in EV mode is only on the Prius Prime. (and it ranges from 25-55km depending on season)
My 2020 Prime consistently gets at least 35 miles of available EV range after a full charge, almost 3 years after purchase. I'm very happy with the car. I never charge in very cold or hot weather, so this is Spring and Fall driving. And I always use battery best practices like using the charge timer and never letting the car sit with a full charge, and I always run the battery all the way out of EV.
We get ave. 45km (28 miles) on full battery with our 2018 Prius PHV (import from Japan). The battery requires ave. 6.0kWh to fully charge i.e. from 0% to 100%. This varies with the season being lower in winter due to AC and heating. The car still has the Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 tires from when we bought it. These tires are supposed to have good energy economy e.g. https://www.tyretest.com/web/pages/summer-tyres/bridgestone/ecopia-ep150 but some people have posted that their wet road performance isn't the best e.g. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Bridgestone/Ecopia-EP150.htm.
