Hi guys, just got my 2011 prius 2 a few weeks ago and thought I share what I did so far and get some ideas of future mods. first i got leather installed because i have 2 kids and leather would be easier to clean. 1700 done by the dealer where i bought the car next was the Macally MCUP Universal Cup Holder Phone Car Mount for my EVO 4G. i would not recomend it because when you try to secure it in the cupholder the cover moves and it is not such a secure fit... Next came the blank metal plate cover. front and back. I didn't like the free plastic ones they put at the dealership with their name on it. if they want me to advertise for them them then they better pay me Thanks to this forum, some one had installed the husky weather beater prius liners for the front and cargo area. they are a gr8 fit but be careful removing the anchor hooks from the floor. i broke one while trying to pry them out. last but not the least i replaced my shifter with the OGS shifter. this is my fav so far. makes the car look unique. very easy mod took about 10 min. I am planing on doing the wheel cover removal and some thing special with the head unit...stay tuned. what are some other ideas you guys have . i am all ears .
The mods look great! Future Mod Ideas: Clear bra (I can't stress this enough) TRD rear sway bar HID headlights Scangauge II Sun visor (priuschat shop)
Which clear bra? So many conflicting opinions, its confusing. I just bought a new prius 2 nights ago and want to protect the front end asap!
I wish I could answer that for you but have not performed enough research to know which brand is the best I just wish I had installed the clear bra when my car was new. Rocks have destroyed the front end of my car. N umerousfolks here on PC have had the clear bra installed so I would search the Geniii modifications forum for more information. I'm glad to see you are interested. This is one of the few mods that can boost your resale value.
These are good ideas.thanxs..i was looking into the clear bra too.. can i do it myself or is it something better left to the dealer?
It is better left to a professional installer. A lot of places that do window tint and full car vinyl usually do clear bras.
Here are the latest additions to my 2011 prius II your comments are welcome. Bought the prius LED interior Kit from 2010 2011 Toyota Prius Complete 326-Lights LED Interior Light Package easy fit, 20 mins job Much brighter than the OEM lights.. The kit even came with LED parking lights. Here is the back seat are,, I have two kids so i just added the seat back protection and the other thing to protect the leather from spils and other sticky stuff that is always attracted to small children I removed the Wheel covers and put soom cheapo ($16 for 4) center caps from ebay...I think the wheels look better without the covers and no reduction in MPG or increase in noise.. Added this phone holder to the vent. must have for hands free comunication if you dont have the built in Bluetooth. I think the small area on the side is perfect to attach a GPS .. I did another cool Mod but i will create a new thread for that. what do you guys think?
I see you have a Prius II. Better head over to the Gen III Audio/Electronics area and read Spiderman's sticky post about how he custom- installed an in- dash GPS/stereo head unit.
Shifter, has anyone figure out how to change buttons around so that Drive is in "thumb" position, etc.
I have been using it for a while now and have gotten used to it.. dont even think about it now, the fingers automaticaly go there now... but thats just me.
I think they are katkin or katskin. had them instaled by the dealer for 1700. It was worth it since i went for the prius II and dident add any additional options..
That was my concern too initially but the switch top is grooved and the hand fits in it nicely so it doesn't feel un natural... but it is worth it for the look i get when i go in for car wash and the guy has to move my car into the slot...
I like the ogs shifter. Where can I find one and how much are they. Google did not help. Tks Regarding the clear bra, I had a local installer working out of his home do it for my 2010 using 3m. It looks great and from what I read is one of the best. I think I paid about $450.
Congrats on your new baby! And thanks for the pics of your mods. I think that shifter is pretty nifty, but my budget keeps me from doing that. Also, I'm not great at DIY stuff on cars. We just took my 2010 on a 9 state, 3,000 mile trip, and it did great. The only thing that was a bother were the foggy headlights. I've cleaned them twice, but they quickly fog up again. I used a 3M kit from NAPA.
Did you sand them? I've used Mother's Aluminum polish a few times and it works very well. But it's time to sand that top layer off.
