Purchased rebuilt battery for $800 in July of 2019 including install. Since then I have traveled 50000 miles in my 2006 Gen2. Battery has improved since initial purchase/install: battery goes into green more often, mpg has improved and able to travel in 100% electric mode for longer distances. Knowing what I know now, confronted with the same situation I would purchase a new battery. It appears that I got lucky with this refurbished battery.

Hence my comment from the original post: " It appears that I got lucky with this refurbished battery." PPS I am not associated with Alex in anyway or manner.
yea... I've been rebuilding these for a few years for friends and family and have learned enough to be been unwilling to offer a warranty. Though my buddy who has $30K in lab-grade equipment has what it takes to do a rebuild with a 3 year warranty. That's definitely not me.
He can process up to 80 modules at once and match up modules based on precise measures of internal resistance, as well as do a full reconditioning of modules without having to discharge below 6volts. Every module I've bought from him were always way better performing than any module in every pack I've worked on.
And related question, I rolled the dice and took a used, unreconditioned, hybrid battery from a wreck at my local junkyard and have been driving with it for a few hundred miles, seeing the battery sometimes recharging to all bars. So far so good, but I won’t know whether the gamble will pay off for some time. I tried and failed to find a reconditioned unit in my area before going with the junkyard replacement. That said my investment is less than half the OP’s so if my gamble fails at least I don’t have that much invested. But now I have the original battery removed from the car as a “spare”in the trunk (actually just in the way). What can I do with that battery, is anyone looking to purchase these, and if so how do you find them?
Yes, but that's not his primary focus so availability is sporadic: 2nd Life Battery | Refurbished Hybrid Batteries Distributor He just raised prices from $30 to $35 as well...
Now would be a great time to "grid charge" either of those HV batteries, unless that spare is/was failing.
I just helped my cousin out after he had a Gen2 battery fail. Failure was 5.75 months into 6 month warranty. Full warranty replacement of HV battery by Alex (917-397-5474).
