Can any 2023 Prius Prime owner or expert please tell me whether it is possible to turn off the eye-watching feature? If so, can it be turned off permanently, or must it be turned off each time when starting the car? I have heard numerous vague, conflicting statements about this. Please respond only if you have actual knowledge of the situation.
Yes, page 626 of the owner's manual. 2023 Toyota Prius Prime Manuals & Warranties | Toyota Owners It does seem turning it off will not allow the use of traffic jam assist though.
Thanks. I can imagine turning it on for the limited purpose of using it with Traffic Jam Assist and otherwise keeping it off. But I've also read that TJA is available only with a paid subscription, so I question its value.
I am picturing hanging a little photograph in front of the camera, stick a pair of google eyes on the photo, let it watch that bounce around... What on Earth is traffic jam assist??
I think some other systems have been fooled by open eye/x-ray novelty glasses. Traffic jam assist(TJA) is a hands free driving feature for low speed, stop and go traffic on limited access highways. Needs the driver monitoring to ensure the driver is still paying attention to the road. I believe the subscription is required for geofencing, so it isn't used on surface streets.
