license plate holder A friend of ours said they saw a license plate holder that said "your SUV sucks, my HYBRID sips" Anyone know where to get one?
I wonder if automotive panel fasteners could be popped in and painted with touch up paint. You would still see where they were but you would have smooth round plugsl
I did not want to put a plate either but my wife bought me one a few years ago .. The car did not have holes already there just dimples. So I drill 2 holes there got black plastic screws to match car.. Plate not as big as bracket but its black too...
i have the opposite problem. NY requires a front plate but i bought my car in WV so i don't have the front plate bracket, and i don't want to just screw the plate into the bumper, which seems like it would damage the bumper after a while... i asked my local dealer to sell me one but he claims they don't have one! sheesh
I got my Prius in P.A. and got a front plate which the dealer left in the trunk, just had to mount it. He should of given you one for your state even though they don't need it there. If need be you can get one on ebay for about $7. Usually in silver or black. I would say to call the dealer you bought the car from and have em put it in an envelope and send it to you. Just remind him you have to still fill out the toyota dealer survey... Trapperjohn
I had the dealer remove the black license plate holder frame off on my new 2005, and, as expected, it left two holes, but they weren't flush with the bumper, they protrude out about 1/8" along with some cracked paint. Anybody else experience this? It really bothers me. I believe this was caused by the tech screwing the screws too tight, thus causing the bumper to "pull out". I haven't taken ownership of the car yet since I've found other problems with it (screw in tire, scratches in driver door panel, fender sheet metal not aligned properly), all of which are either fixable or not bothersome. But the protruding two holes really bugs. Any suggestions? thx, /mark
At least your prep lackey USED the license plate holder. While I was in the dealership settling accounts with the money guy, some ill-trained monkey was screwing my license plate to my front bumper. That’s right, screwing my license plate to my front bumper! My sales rep walked out with me to the car. It was parked nose to a wall. I looked in the hatch and saw the license plate holder still setting on the cargo mat. I said that they must have not put the front plate on. No, it was there, screwed into my front bumper! (Have I mentioned that they just screwed it straight into my front bumper?) That weekend, I took a closer look. The plate was off-center and lopsided. I took it off and noticed that there are tiny dimples where the screws go to hold on the license plate holder. Totally disregarded. Completely ignored. Monkey-boy was close enough to center that license plate holder hides the holes, but they are still there. I’m not sure if you can tell, but it’s a bit of a sore spot for me. I'm going to have to make a mental note to remind as many people as possible. If you don't need the front plate in your state, INSIST that they not damage your car. If you need the front license plate in your state, INSIST that they use the front license plate holder. I never thought to make this insistance because, after all, no one in their right mind would screw the plate right into the front bumper!
Thank the gods I installed the plates myself. I'll haveta go out and look, but I *think* the rear plate mounting holes are in factory dimples, which kinda sounds like your description of "1/8-inch protusion". But the cracked paint definitely ain't right. Sheesh, right into the front bumper? Whatta buncha maroons. TPS, they owe you a new bumper, installed. If they don't want to do it escalate the matter by calling the Toyota customer service 800 numbers. Start with 800-468-6968. If that doesn't help go to the next level at 800-331-4331.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(aarons12\";p=\"35150)</div> Did you look in the trunk near the lug wrench? Ours was there. We are also in NY, bought the car in PA, but the mounting bracket was there. Yours should have been also. My husband did the installation. Sabrina
My solution is like bbridgewater's. I got a couple of shinney phillips head screws that match my silver Prius. Just two little silver bumps now. Easy and looks way better than two little holes. Mike
Re: license plate holder That's my car she saw! I am the creator/instigator of this frame - depending how you wanna look at it. You can get one at My CafePress Store. I am selling t-shirts through there also. The frame is made of metal. No, no bulletproof lexan either... haven't needed it. But trust me, it does get noticed.
