Hi there, a newbie here I have a hybrid Toyota Auris (uses the Prius 3rd gen tech). With my driving style, and a little help of downhill driving, I often fully charge the battery with recuperation to a point that any more recuperated energy is lost. Now I'm on the market for a pre-owned Prime and I wonder if there's a limit on how much Wh I can put back into the batter in HV mode using regular regen/recuperation = without going to the Charge mode (the one that's activated by holding the EV/HV button). I was driving back from an Austrian ski resort in the Alps it was downhill for about 6 miles. In a Prime, would I be able to harvest that braking energy and put in the battery in the HV mode (no charging). Sorry for the stupid question but I remember reading years ago that you CANNOT regenerate and store more energy than on a regular Prius. Thanks, Kris
welcome! yes,you van refill prime with regeneration. i'm not sure if it is limited to 80% like charge mode or not. i'm also not sure if that holds true outside n/a
As others have chimed in already, for the Gen4 Prime (Prius Prime MY2017-2022) in North America, there is no limit in regen recapitulation all the way to 100% SOC on the dash display which is actually 84% full. If you have a long enough downhill, you can fill the traction battery back to a fully charged state. But as pointed out by @bisco, CHARGE mode will allow only up to 80% SOC on the display.

There are differences between the North American and European the plug in Prius' EV modes. Mostly in the conditions under which the car turns on the engine. Never heard of any other difference in how the car operates. I don't see why Toyota would change the way regen braking works between the markets.
