Does the back of the cluster have two connectors on it. The 2012 Prius v connectors look like this. IMG_1318.JPG

I think you're set on eBay pricing, but for those who want 0 on their new cluster try the Amayama.com site.

EDIT-. Of course it won't help sadly as Amayama doesn't seem to carry those part numbers....

I considered driving for Uber and Lyft until my at fault accident 2 years ago. Maybe next year again. I'd call anonymously and ask: "What if my ODO failed, can I replace it with no ill effect on my driver status?" I'd be flabbergasted if they said yes there would be, as long as there's a documented change. (Which I believe we have to do here in Cali with our DMV, Department of Motor Vehicles).

You are making a big assumption that you can get a live person at Uber or Lyft to give you a straight answer. They do all communication through the app. In person can be done at one of their hubs, by appointment only. My 2017 is currently registered with both Uber and Lyft as a second vehicle.

What would happen if I were to get an oil change, and the mileage seen on Carfax went down? Well some computer program would detect an anomaly with that vehicle when they pulled the Carfax, and then disable the vehicle on my account. Given the over zealous nature of Uber and Lyft, they might even suspend my whole account, pending investigation. This could take months to get straightened out.

To give you an idea of what a driver deals with, here is what happened last weekend.

On Friday, I went to go online. Uber would not let me go online until I checked a checkbox allowing them access to my PA driving record (this a common Uber tactic to get you to consent to whatever they want). Five minutes later, they put my account on hold. So I drove for Lyft on Friday Night. The hold was finally lifted on Monday morning at 5AM.

As best as I can figure, the company Checkr that does Uber's and Lyft's background checks found the police "incident" report of an alleged accident on 1/21/20. While stopped at a crosswalk (and looking at my phone), a pedestrian laid down on the hood of my car, and claimed I hit him (his wife as a witness). Uber paid out $26k on that one, so Uber already knew about the incident. I now have a dashcam. This also means I can't drive for UPS for two years.

Later last Friday night, my phone froze while dropping off a Lyft passenger at 9:58PM. I stopped getting rides during a premium hour on a college campus. I tried to go offline, but apparently Lyft said I could not, until I finished dropping off the passenger from 9:58PM. The only support option I had was via in app messaging, which was not responding. The next day, I got through to somebody in the app messaging, and they somehow reset my app. But then I could not go online, because (according to the app), I had been online for 20 hours, and was forced to take a break.

From what I remember, that looks like the two cables plugged in. I pulled the cluster in the parking lot of the Mall where my wife works. it was pouring rain, so I didn't look too closely once I got the photo of the label. The dashboard gods demanded a sacrifice. Before I knew it, I lost one of the 4 screws that hold the cluster in. Another trip to the dealer?

Carfax should note the odometer change is my point...

    So Carfax report:

    ODO change, new mileage 23k.

You need one of these. Less than $6 at Home Depot.

I extend the tip to catch the screw when it falls out. I've been saved many times.

For some reason, links in posts to Amazon don't show up as blank in my browser. I was able to search for

    MEDIA=amazon]B000H5QRV4[/MEDIA

I was in the parking lot of the mall where my wife works. I thought that the phillips screwdriver I brought was magnetized, but it wasn't. When working in my driveway, I usually put one of those powerful magnets from a laptop hard drive on the shaft of the screwdriver, if I think I might loose the screw.

    Not a big deal.

Ok, last weekend was spent with family I haven't seen for a while. Turns out my nephew took on a job during the pandemic working at a hybrid repair shop in Boulder Colorado. He was totally impressed that I own two Prius V's. We had a total geekfest, which was great. I told him what I wanted to do with the instrument cluster, and he was all for it. He coined the term "Hybrid Tachometer" for the hybrid control that was used on 2012-2014 models, that I want so badly.

Today I had a brilliant idea for mapping Instrument Clusters to years and trim levels. Carfax tends to put really good pictures of the dash and steering wheel controls in the ads for their used cars. So this is what I learned:

    "Hybrid Tachometer" style:
    2015/16 Prius V two: Part number 83809-47120
    2017 Prius V two: Part number 83809-47121
from an ad for a 2017 Prius V two:
    PriusV-2017-two.JPG

    "Multi Info Display" style:
2015/16 Prius V three, four, five: Part number 83809-47230
2017 Prius V three, four, five: Part number 83809-47231
A picture I took of my 2017 Prius V four.
    PriusV-2017-four.JPG

One thing to note is the right side 5-way switches are different on the two models. I got lucky, and snatched a new pair of both sides for $55 on eBay today.

What gets confusing is the paper labels on my cluster (83800-47F31) and the eBay cluster (83800-47M60) are next to useless. They show up in the toyota parts system as "wiring Harnesses" and map to multiple non prius models. The eBay seller could have saved me a lot of detective work, if they had managed to get the VIN number from the donor vehicle.

What gives me hope is that there is this thread:
I bought a spare speedometer from the US, in preparation for posting the original one for Mod | PriusChat

In that thread, an Australian guy with a 2016 Metric Right Hand Drive Prius (Plus? Alpha?), bought a 2015 LHD US Cluster with the Info display, and it actually worked, except for the HUD. I suspect what he calls the HUD (Heads Up Display) is what Toyota is calling the Multi-Info Display. He does mention a third plug on the back of the 2015 US cluster, whereas his cluster had only two plugs. My 2017 cluster only has two plugs (not three) and has the Multi-Info Display. This may point to something that changed between 2016 and 2017 clusters, that required a part number change.

I might be wrong, but I conject that the 2012 Prius v display is the base display that later was added the components of the 2014, 2015-16 and 2017 models.

It could be that the 2012 basic display is compatible with all superseding models and will work when plugged in to any Prius v. Not having the additional enhancement circuits, those functions would still work in the car but would not show up on the instrument panel. However, all of the 2012 Prius v basic functions would likely work. This would not likely be a problem, since there is no "handshake" between the display and those additional functional components. The display only shows readouts.

The only way apparently to find out is to plug the 2012 display into later Prius v models.

My Nephew suggested swapping the IC from my 2013 Prius V, and putting it in the 2017. That might be a thing to try, except that the point was to have the "Hybrid Tach" on both cars. Doing a temporary swap might provide useful information. If nothing else, I would find out if the plugs are the same.

The eBay cluster appears to have the same connectors as mine, but photos can be deceiving. The issue of the "paper Label" number being listed in the "Wiring Harness" section probably has something to do with the different right side steering wheel switch. The "Hybrid Tach" requires the switch with the five buttons labeled "Disp", "Trip", Temperature Up / Down and "recirculate". The "Multi-Info Display" requires a five way navigation on the rubber part, plus three switches ("Return", "Trip", and "Radar Cruise" if equipped). I bought the correct switch set yesterday on eBay.

I called my Nephew's shop this morning, to find out options for getting the ODO corrected to the right mileage. The man I talked to said they haven't done any Prius Vs, and would not be wiling to do the correction. There are plenty of shops that will do the correction for around $100 + shipping both ways. There is paperwork they need to absolve them of participating in a fraud.

He also suggested that I check out http://www.car-part.com, and I found some units with mileage just above mine. I have to go out Ubering soon, so I will check back later.

@Georgina Rudkus may be onto something. The numbers for pre-facelift have only one digit change from the Facelift two models.

The instrument cluster for my 2013 shows up as:
    Instrument Cluster - Toyota (83809-47020)

The instrument cluster for a 2015 two shows up as:
    Instrument Cluster - Toyota (83809-47120)

In the world of manufacturing and operational logistics, if the basic display system is working with full functionality and does what is designed to and intended to do, the manufacturer is not likely to make expensive changes in the software form year to year in the entire generational run of the car's model. The revision in the display may have been to compensate for the design of a particular component in the circuit board that has been discontinued by one supplier and substituted to perform the same basic function as the previous model, including modification of the circuit board traces to accommodate the new component.

Another reason for changing the part number may be purely financial. A revision of the circuit board might integrate a number of expensive components into one leas expensive component, saving the manufacturer hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost which adds to the profit and bottom line of the manufacturer.

That being standard preferred engineering practice, it would be likely that both displays are fully compatible for the entire production run of the basic level Prius v displays from 2012-2018.

I just had my friend install the replacement instrument cluster into his 2017 Prius v. He reported to me that the wiring harness connectors are the same as the one on my previous photo of the one on the 2012-2013 display.

I know I'm reviving this, but I'm interested in installing the "Multi Info Display" style in my 2015 base model without the display.

you will also need a different right steering wheel switch assembly.

I'm okay with that. Will the audio playing on my radio display on it, or will I need to upgrade my radio as well?

I don't think the radio would need to be upgraded.

If you own a '15 Prius v, to guarantee compatibility, only purchase a display from a 2015 or 2016. While other years might be compatible, I'd choose those years.
