... behold the abject absurdity, if and when you find time: Elon Musk calls for an EV vs. hybrid vehicle race at Formula 1 event Samuel, '04 Ruthiemobile
Looks like it could be interesting ... if the current F1 cars are hybrid, and the current Formula E cars can't compete with them for speed or range, there could be some non-trivial stuff to occupy some engineers.
Yeah, the title of this thread seems to make sense only to the OP. The linked article has to do with Max Verstappen only in that, well, the article is about Formula 1 racing, and Max Verstappen is a Formula 1 race driver (though nothing in the article mentions him). Where the article has anything to do with Greta is ... only in the OP's mind, somewhere, somehow.
Can you imagine an EV race? Even a small fender bender and the batteries catch on fire....now we have a party! Make some popcorn, this is going to take a few hours to put out!!!!
The Honda VFR has been my favorite do-it-all sport bike but it's really been a sport-touring design since the early 90's (think GT in auto terms) and not a "real" race bike. When riders of those bikes would challenge me to a street race, I would quickly accept much to their utter surprise. Then I would ask, "To which coast? Pacific or Atlantic? Everyone of those riders would look at me like I was crazy. Most had never ridden out of the county let alone across Texas nor what a saddlesore event was (1k miles in 24hrs).
... and I don't still don't see any point in racing even there. Lacking synchronized lights most places around here, it isn't like there is any benefit to getting to the next light quickly.
