For the 2023 Prius the tire size for the 19 inch wheels is 195/50R19. Which is not very common and will probably be expensive when you can find them. I believe they are also bringing down the gas mileage of the XLE.

So here's my question/concern, should I sell/trade my XLE tires and wheels for LE tires and wheels to get better gas mileage, a smoother ride and cheaper tire replacement?

The 17 in wheels with improve fuel economy, but they are still an odd size for the US, thus just as hard as the 19 in ones to find in the beginning.

I intend to do this too. Will ask the dealer if they have any base 17" Primes being delivered to customers who'd like to swap for my 19s.

Eventually would like to put Nokian WRG4 all-weather tires on. kaltire.com already has the 2023 Prius in their configurator, but no tires available. Now we wait.

Agreed on the WRG4 or maybe Michelin CrossClimate 2.

Here's a list of all the tires I've found that match the Prius sizes exactly. It's probably not complete, but pretty close for the moment. All are Japan-only or Toyota-only right now, but I expect that will change over the next few months.

    Code:

    Toyo Proxes Comfort IIs* Summer/AS

17" tire is the premium tire.

19" tire is the inferior-spec but better-looking tire.

Dropping down to the 17" wheels for 5 mpg increase is pretty big. Anyone happen to know the offset on the OE 17" wheels? Would be nice to find a nicer looking replacement at some point for the OE 19" to recoup that mpg. Planning to investigate Corolla offset and lug pattern or even older prius/Corolla wheel specs.

Anyone own an XLE AWD and getting advertised mpg. My 2009 is getting 47 mpg right now. I’m still having trouble accepting that 2023 hybrids are barely beyond that.

I’m the one with the 2009 that needs repairs and who has time sensitive funding for a new car so I’m not sure I can wait until an equivalent hybrid appears. Who even knows if one will? If there was Corolla hatch hybrid that matched Prius mpg I would jump on it. I really liked my Pontiac Vibe…well… the Toyota parts anyway except for cloth seats.

Yeah Pontiac Vibe, and its Toyota Matrix counterpart, were great, unpretentious people and cargo movers. Is the Vibe cancelled as well?

If Toyota would bring back the Matrix (and resist the urge to mess with it), doubly so as a hybrid, I’d be very interested.

If our ‘10 Prius ever needs replacement. At this point it’s been trouble free though, may be our sunset car.

More than just the Vibe was cancelled at Pontiac. lol. Both have been dead for almost 15 years.

Sorry, that just sounded to me like someone asking "what's Studebaker doing lately" and I got a laugh out of it.

You will get 50 mpg with XLE w/AWD.

You will get 58 mpg with LE w/o AWD.

My milage varies a lot. The old C was more consistent, and probably a little better at least. Hard to compare as I could use the HOV lane and therefore dealt with less traffic.

Short, sub-1 miles local drives to and from the store is not so great, high 30s, low 40. My general commute, which is the bulk of my miles though, is better. Over 20 miles of heavy traffic highway driving, usually get low 50s, but I've gotten as high as 60 a couple days.

Note: this is just based off the car's display, for whatever that's worth. I know its not of supreme accuracy. I've not gotten around to doing the math when filling up. I tend to get gas while going to get food, and for some reason fueling myself always seems to be more important!

Some of the variance can be because the car is still new, and new to you.
