I need to temporarily remove the plastic holder for the gas cap release lever (on the floor next to driver)... due to vomit getting under there :(

There's a 10mm bolt, but removing that doesn't solve it.

Anybody got a diagram or hint on how to get that thing off the carpet?

Looks like there's one bolt forward, and one tab aft, oughtta come free after sliding in the right direction:

Ahh... and looks like the tab is on the side. Thanks.

Got it off. Use a strong/plastic wedge on the back side. Twist firmly, gently -- it needs to move forward about 1/2 inch, then to the right. Sproing! Off it comes :)

And oh boy, underneath is NOT simply carpet! It's a hole down to subcarpet and below... the gross stuff had partly filled that void. Would have been a source of awful smells for a long time to come :(

could have just said you'd spilled some soup.

I mean, we would've still known, but it sounds better.

Much. One of those 24 hour tummy bugs that's VERY prevalent these days. Thought I could make it home. Nope. Gross.

As my younger daughter says "leaking from both ends"...

Now to practice my steam cleaning technique ;). Yeah, maybe some enzymes. They were MAGIC on the carpet of a house we bought long ago. I won't say more than: don't let stuff soak in or you get to pull up carpet and pad. Even in cars.
