Long time reading here, first time posting so be gentle. I have a 2012 Prius V (Wagon) and its at 240k km. I have a few issues that I need help with.

    1) ABS, Brake lights are ON and using a OBD scanner on the car it showed speed sensor issue but cannot pin point which wheel. Last time I had this issue on one of the wheel speed sensor and the dealer charged like $300 in Toronto/GTA area. This the second time. I need to know which cable do I buy and from which source and where to get latest Techstream. What is the preferred site where you can purchase this and which one to choose? Sorry I am not too familiar with this but am willing to get the necessary tools and perform the scan and replace the sensor that's bad.

    2) I have performed Hybrid battery fan cleaning procedure and its done.

    3) I have read EGR cleaning is required for this Gen model. At this mileage should I get to it ASAP and how difficult and lengthy that task is?

    Thanks everyone.

240k kms is late in the day; best addressed by 160k at the most. 240k kms translates to roughly 150k miles; likely near-choked.

Budget a weekend, and read my first 2 links. There are preliminary things you can do, there’s strategies to keep it simple/efficient, and you can split it up, say intake manifold one day and EGR another. Be methodical, label all the nuts/bolts and even hoses, as they come off. Get on the EGR cooler as early as possible; it’s time consuming.

first 2 links in my signature have tips/links. On a phone turn it landscape to see signature.

Thanks Mendel for the details. I am going through your posts and all your contribution here has helped me a lot.
Would it be worth while to take it to a mechanic to get EGR cleaned up?. I am concerned though, these independent mechanics will mess it up and I will end up with issues. A lot of them dont know how to work on these cars but would gladly take it.. I may split the job over this coming weekend as you suggested and get to it asap but if I cant find the time, looking to see if someone can do it fast. Has anyone come across any mechanics in GTA who can work on Prius reliably ?. Reading up I am very concerned EGR should be addressed asap.

Last time I got struts replaced by an independent and the job done was very lousy (like leaving bolts not fully tight). You would think routine suspension job they will be fine with but the car doesn't drive good from that day on.

Regarding speed sensor, should I take it to a dealer and lose hard earned money or get the necessary tools off ebay or Amazon ? Any preference which cable ? or any links you may have will be helpful. Can DM me as well.

    Thank you.

Best would be a mechanic who’s done this on a regular basis, but someone doing it for first time, might run up a lot of billing hours, cut corners. Not sure. Phone a few prospects and ask questions?
