I can’t believe there is no option to show a temperature gauge or tachometer. Last car I owned that didn’t have a temperature gauge was an old Volkswagen Bug.

The Prius has never had either on its native displays. You can add both via a variety of phone apps or aftermarket gauge displays.

Tach seems useless, but yes: confounding they don’t have an engine coolant temp gauge.

I have temp and accurate mph. A tach is pretty useless as rpm is under hybrid control.

Toyota put a tach and temperature gauge on the new corolla cross hybrid.

I think he means a coolant temperature gauge.

Likely because it uses the same dash as the ICE model.

He's asking for a coolant temp gauge.

Right that engine speed is "under hybrid control," but I can't agree that "a tach is pretty useless." I want to know what's happening with engine speed, just as I would with any other kind of transmission.

A few years ago, someone posted how to connect a conventional analog tachometer to function in a 2nd-generation Prius.

I have RPM and coolant temperature shown on my ScanGauge most of the time.

I recall driving Daughter-In-Law's Sunfire over to Costco one time, muttering "even this sh*t-box has a temp gauge".

Most drivers don't need to know this and dash space is limited. For those that do, there is now easy after market solutions.
The temperature gauges in many cars are no better than the warning light the Prius has. They have increments, but really only show cold, warm, too hot. Really just the warning light in gauge form
It's on the central screen, but my Subaru has an approach angle diagram.

I mostly like to see how fast my engine is coming up to temperature.

I'm really okay with the reduced instrumentation in the Prius. Heck, 99% of the time when we drive it we have the dash set to the "simple" display: clock, fuel gauge, odo & speedo.

I have a ScanguageII mounted on my 2008 Prius that I set to show coolant temp and SOC. When I get my Prime, I hope I can use my Scaguage with it also.

On a Prius, a tachometer is useless.

Engine coolant, inverter coolant and HV battery coolant, however, is something I need to monitor continuously. 12 volt battery temperature is also most important.

The four are easily and best monitored with my Scangauge 2.
