Time to replace tires for my 2019 Limited Prius. R17 Looking for quiet and safe. Any suggestions? I see older threads so looking for more recent info. Thanks
I'll admit there's a bunch of us who want to know if the General RT45 is as quiet and comfortable as the RT43 before it. That was a very satisfying tire for one of our cars. I was planning to use that for our Prius until the RT45 came out, now I'm hungry for info on that tire.
I'm a big fan of Douglas brand (made by Goodyear exclusively for Walmart) their price is super low, traction rating is A, they are soft riding, Walmart has the best price on install, and Walmart actually does a far superior job with installation when compared to a local tire shop that specializes in tires. Walmart consistently lines up the yellow dot with the TPMS sensor which means you can use far fewer weights. Walmart also has the stick on weights which gives you a cleaner look and they clean the inside of the rim before putting them on. I'm really impressed with Walmart for tire installation. I'm a surprised as you are that the lowest price is the best quality
I also prefer Douglas! But I get tires installed by a local tire shop! Good value for money for this tire!
The cabin noise was annoying me recently and so I specifically was on the hunt for a quiet tyre. Switched from Yokohama BluEarth-GT Ae51 to Michelin Primacy 4. A month on and happy with the decision. Noticeably quieter and it’s not placebo.
I put on a set of Bridgestone Turanza QuietTracks a bit ago. Lost about 10 mpg but traction and lane-keeping are much improved. And they are quiet, although in my experience not as quiet as as the Goodyear Assurance Comfortreds. Can't get those Goodyear tires anymore.
A couple years ago, my wife got a flat on her OEM Nano tires in her 2017 and all four were pretty bald after just 23,000 miles. I replaced them with General Altimax tires at Discount Tires for $480 and they have 7,000 miles on them, now, and show minimum wear. (They are rated to last 65,000 miles.)
I also filed the written complaint with Walmart corporate telling them that if one of their mechanics makes a mistake because they consistently distract their mechanic and make him play cashier that I will find that case and testify that Walmart is the cause of the mechanic being distracted resulting in the mistake
