When I replaced the HV battery in my 2004 Prius in 2012, the book charge was $500. I talked the dealer into lowering the charge to $400 since my replacement battery already had the ECU installed whereas one sourced from Toyota needed to have the ECU moved from the old Battery to the new one. JeffD
Yes and to remove the old battery and get it ready to be used as a core for the Toyota dealer You've got to take the front end off the battery anyway two or three nuts so you can get your core charge back so I'm not sure why people would be paying folks like the dealer to drop in their battery I mean I guess if you totally working an office or something and have no possible way then I guess I just yeah. But I guess I'm one of those people that takes chances on everything and that's just the way I live so there you go I don't have medical or health insurance or any of that never have and I'm almost 70 oh well and this afternoon I'm running a 200 amp service to my freshly built cabin not an electrician in sight.
They charge as much as they like and hide it as they give a quote for parts and labor together. Usually, a rip off as usual.
The Toyota repair manuals list the HV battery installation as a 5 hour task (including the ECU swap). JeffD
I don't think it will take that long, it can be done in 30mins to an hour. That's why they are called stealerships. Greenbean replaced my battery (swapped the ecu/relays) within an hour in my Camry Hybrid. First time I did it in my Prius took me an hour to remove the battery.
