This just started two weeks ago with my 2019 Prius. Occasionally when I start the car, there is a loud split-second screech like loudspeaker feedback. It occurs whether the sound system is turned on or off and seems to be occurring more frequently. HAs anyone had this and, if so, any solutions?
well, if you try to start a cat, that's what you're going to get. but seriously, is this as soon as you press the start button? how many miles? an aftermarket products?
Pay attention to the dash warnings while you start your car. Sometimes they flash on and create a brief chirp and then go away quickly. Also, try and record the sound on your phone (video recording) when you are starting your car. Have the video pointing at the display area to maybe catch any warning messages that pop up. Finally, what's the state of your 12V battery, your fob battery?
If it's cold, mine does that too, but only in the cold. Wait until warmer weather and see if it still does it. It's the ICE kicking in.
Does it make the sound immediately with the car starting up? Or does it only make that sound only when the ICE comes on?
The t is right next to the r on the keyboard - sorry didn't notice. I have noticed it occurs more frequently if I stop the car for only a few minutes and then start it back up. The car has only 30,000 miles. Only occurs when I first push the start button
Showed the video of the loud screech to three different Toyota service advisors and none of them had ever heard such a thing
regardless, this is abnormal, is a warranty item and they need to investigate and repair it. Make them do their job!
I finally figured out how to get rid of the occasional very loud screech through the speakers just when I start the car - I found that if press the brake pedal hard when I start the car, it doesn't happen. I have noticed that when I initially press the brake pedal I can feel some occasional initial resistance. If I press through that resistance, the screech doesn't happen
