plugged in my home charger - loud bang and home fuse blew. Charger wire blown apart about two feet below car plug. Tiny pinholes in cable casing reveal daughter's terrier puppy has chewed cable. Have bought new cable but it won't lock in or illuminate green light on ccid or car. Is there an internal fuse that might have blown? Regenerative charging is working as usual.

To eliminate a cause, are you able to charge away from home? Say a Level 2 charger?

Thanks, Ray. I have not, partly because I have no reason to doubt the new cable, which is giving me the orange light to show its getting power off the mains, and because assuming the fault is in the car I do not want to risk putting more power into it.

Yep, try plugging in at the library, civic center, or shopping mall. That will determine if the problem is on your car or the replacement charger. If the care charges away from home, the problem is in your replacement charging rig.

    Hope this helps.

I'm sure you've tried this but unplug the new charging cable from the wall and plug back in the wall.

If you still have issues after that (and you tried a level 2 charger) then there is probably something wrong with either the new cable or the plug in charger assembly under the rear seat. Either way probably will require s service visit.

There is no fuse that I'm aware of. Let us know.

Did the old one blow while it was plugged into your car?

yes, the hoover works off it and the orange light on the CCID goes on.

yes. I plugged it in to wall socket and car, there was a bang, the house fuse blew, and the cable burst about 2 feet below the car plug. THEN I noticed the needle like puppy tooth marks around the burst.

I'll report back after its fixed. I have a service due this month so I'll ask the garage to check it then.

took car to dealer. Had service,. They say the cable won't lock in (I told them that). Then they say the hybrid health check failed, as "the system has detected a recent clearance of DTCs". They say I can book it in again so they can investigate! I reckon that when the cable blew and fused the house fuse, it probably screwed some internal DTC memory. I wonder if I should find an independent expert on electric cars who might have more pf a clue than the Toyota agent. Any ideas, folks?

i agree, hopefully someone is willing to dive into the charger and connections to the inlet.

that's the trouble with dealers, they can't fix anything without a code.

Try taking off the 12 volt neg, waiting a bit, and put it back on? I think this will mean a relearning of the smog sensors which may take some driving, plus your settings, but doesn’t harm anything to try. Since dealer was talking about dtc. Cable has to lock in as far as I know. If I just barely press the unlock button on charge handle on mine it turns the power off. Release button goes back on. Maybe the computer needs the reset by disconnecting the 12 v.

Try disconnecting your 12v battery overnight. Then do this reset
