Hey all, I have a 2017 Prius ll with about 65k miles. It's been a great vehicle so far, with the only repair being the front interior light housing needing to be replaced last year. It is out of factory warranty for everything except the battery. My question is, how much life do I have left on the battery? Is there any way to check or to be assured that it won't fail anytime soon? How long do these typically last? Thanks
I like bisco's answer. Fair to say you have 9ish more years. You can get smartphone apps that talk to bluetooth gadgets plugged into the diagnostic port and they can communicate with the battery ECU to get details. (I've never done this, just read about it lots here) Anyway these phone apps can give you some information but all readouts are subject to interpretation. There are also more involved methods involving laptops if you are doing a full on real diagnostic, if you think you have a problem. Good luck!
All excellent replies. Thank you! Looks like I'll keep her, pass down to my oldest child when he's of driving age, and buy another Prius! Cheers!
Ten years 150k miles is the average. Hot weather is a factor. People up north do better. The newer models with lithium are unknown. The Dr Prius app is a guess when it comes to lifetime. It can approximate current condition.
