In general.......any "product" that is advertised to make your car last longer.......
    is a SCAM.

What kind of "accessories" did you have in mind ?

I'd recommend a garage. All my cars have done very well living the garage at home.

I want one of those, but that's one accessory more expensive than the car! :p

That would be for you, not the car.

I had an uncle in Michigan who was building his own house from scratch. First he built the garage as that was easier and cheaper. He and his wife lived in that while he built the house far enough along to move into that.

I have ordered our new 2023 Prius LE and have a quick question. Does it have a spare tire and if not does it have the place under the mat for one?

I just read on Consumer and dealer that tries to get you to buy the accessory to preserve you paint is an unnecessary accessory always.

    • There is no spare in any US trim. It is an option in Japan for some trims.
    • There is a spare mount in the US LE trim.
    • The US XLE and Limited may not have a spare mount—check it first for those trims before you buy a spare.
You would have to buy from the dealer:
    • an OEM spare tire and wheel if they ever start selling it in the US
    • correct knob screw that holds the spare down
    • may also need to buy some OEM foam from the dealer that goes around the spare where you can put the tire tools (see the pictures in the owner's manual)

No spare in the US and any interior/exterior protection is a scam from the dealer. You have no idea what they use or IF they use anything at all. Even the PPF they use is cheap and not worth a quarter of what they charge. Get all that kind of stuff installed by a reputable aftermarket detailer.

The higher trim models have a spare tire mount as well, and the 2015 Prius V spare is apparently compatible and drops right in:

Can this work with a Prime? This is pretty neat (makes you wonder why Toyota wouldn't just do it) but I think it can only be done in the non-plug in Prius? But, I assume the Prius V spare idea does work with the Prime, you just don't have a neat place to keep it?

I haven't seen anything definitive about whether the Prime has the spare mount, so it's probably something that would need to be verified by an actual owner.
But yeah, as far as I know, the prime has the same wheel mounts, so the same spares should work, interior mount aside.

Be wary of the Prius v spare like in that video. While the bolt pattern of the wheel matches up(5x114.3), the tire on the Prius v is two inches shorter than the gen5. That means the corner of the car with the spare will be one inch shorter when it's installed. Maybe okay for a couple miles at low speeds, but iffy for dozens of miles at highway speeds(especially installed on a front corner).

The other issue is the age of the used tire. Anything over 10 years from date of manufacture is a bad idea. Even the newest original spare tires from a Prius v sold in the US are going to be six years old already, and over half will be 10+ years old.

If you must use a Prius v spare wheel, at least get a new 135/90/17 or 145/80/17 tire to go on it. Those will fit on the wheel, give you 10 years of safe reliability, and be the same overall size as the other gen5 tires.

No. The floor pan in the back is raised higher to accommodate the larger battery. You can certainly get a compact spare and tie it down in the back cargo area, but it won't fit neatly under the floor. There are also one or two electrical modules* mounted on the floor pan that are covered and protected by the white boxes, so you really shouldn't remove those.

*the charger and the solar roof controller(if equipped)

Did you buy an OEM spare wheel and which tire did you buy? I have a Yokohama spare tire sitting in my Tire Track cart. : } Did you put any foam around it? A photo would be great if you have time. Thanks!

I will take a photo this weekend.
i found a spare from a Venza online and ordered it since it had the correct bolt pattern.
Tire was too tall but fit.
Found a tire size that was a perfect match for the 19 inch wheel/tires I have and ordered it.
Had it swapped out. The only part of my spare that did not fit was the center bore, the spare wheel's center bore was bigger than the Prius wheel center bore.
No problem, took some measurements and bought some hub rings that adapt the spare wheel to fit the Prius center bore.
It did take two tries to get hub rings that fit, but they are cheap.
Removed all the foam and installed the spare, found a spare tire bolt on-line.
Then I lay the foam around the spare and cut off what did not fit.
So my trunk deck is flat and even and I have a spare tire.
My last two flats have been sidewall cuts, so no goo or air pump would have corrected them.
