I went to change the cabin filter today and found 'mouse droppings' in the cabin filter.

1/4” galvanized steel mesh (readily available at hardware stores) over the cabin air intake, typically secured with a few sheet metal screws. You need to take off the wipers, windshield trim and metal cowl for access.

Maybe Toyota should do this at the factory; why not, it’s virtually necessity.

The mousey thing has been covered pretty well, mostly by myself, I think. The day I found the engine air filter box completely packed with Cheerios was a highlight -- still don't know where they got the Cheerios. Patrick Wong posted the complete guide on how to exclude them, IIRC. I followed those directions. Of course, I guess, Cheerios are a pretty effective filter.
