I have 2016 Prius Two Dealer replaced recalled Exhaust pipe (170171P) assembly at 46K now at 51K my engine won't start due to overheat gave P319, P148F, P00B111 P011511 I am not sure Over heating requires Engine replacement completely when we get this combination of codes. Dealer note doesn't say Head Gasket.
Well, if you have a 2016, then you might want to post in the Gen4 forums. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I am combination these codes at 51K on my 2016 Prius P00B111, P011511, P148F00 AND P319000 Dealer is saying Engine over heating needs to be replaced along with Water pump
This really should be it's own topic rather than tacked onto an unrelated issue in an unrelated forum. That said, if the dealer drained the system to replace the heat exchanger area of the exhaust system, it would be quite a coincidence to the water pump to fail at that moment. And just because it overheated doesn't mean the engine is necessarily damaged. First thing to do is get all the air bled out of it since that about 99.9999% the cause of the overheat. @Tideland Prius, can/should these last few posts get moved to the Gen 4 forums? Thanks! You're the best.
I left my Car at the Dealer And reaching out Toyota corporate Service center. Richardson Tx, Dealer just washed off there hands by giving the repair estimate This is the only thing they have provided even after asking them several times please provide clear summary of current status
Looks to me like this dealer has you right back where you started. I don't see anything there that says you need a new engine, or even just a head gasket. Try to find someone who knows what they are doing and isn't trying to rip you off. Some hybrid shops are better than some Toyota dealers, so don't limit yourself to dealers. PS: There is no recall on that heat exchanger. Just a TSB. PPS: Thanks, @Tideland Prius!!
This is getting so difficult to follow with all the repeated posts in different threads, I seems to be reading the same text three or four times
I’ve given up. Here is a guy with a serious mechanical problem, but with multiple threads started, myriad more added to, rehashing the same stuff. It needs distilling down, and realistic acknowledgement what can and can’t be accomplished. Toyota has weighed in, saying they’re in the clear because the car was driven for some time in spite of having overheat warning lights, IIRC.
Yeah, I gave up trying to follow all the threads a day or two ago. What a mess. He'd be better off, I think, to ask the moderator to delete all of them and then start over with ONE thread.
Yep, I have given up now too. It could have been a good subject to follow, but its impossible with multiple answers across multiple threads
