Tell us= How many MPG, is your Gen. 2 Prius getting?

43 to 45 In NC. With something always running heat air whatever

 

I have 08's they get 45.7-winter average up to 50 in spring. We shall see what summer will be now that we live in Hot Kansas.

 

43 city / 50 hwy

 

My 2004 Prius averaged 46 MPG (total miles driven divided by total gallons bought) over it's 12 year/288k mile life.

In the 17 years I own my Prius the average was 42 mpg. However, 3 years ago dropped within 2-3 months to 37 and then the HV battery gave the triangle of death. After the rebuilding it went back to 42-43 mpg. Now after 3 years from the HV battery repair, it is down to 38 mpg again and I am afraid the HV battery will light up the Dash soon.

 

I just bought a 2008 with 202k miles and going by the consumption screen, my average is 43.8mpg. The screen showed 41 when I purchased it and I've put about 500 miles of mostly 60mph 2-lane highway and in town driving.

I am still getting low to mid 40's mpg. Still have original battery. 246k

 

Put Non-ethanol gas in and I am getting 51 mpg on the highway! 2007 with original HV battery. 301,000+ miles

 

48-49 winter 52-53 summer, on both of mine.
Peps getting low 40s or under must be lead foots.

 

I've recently shown that a failing brake actuator (cycling every 7-10 seconds) can create a massive drop in fuel economy, even if it doesn't trigger the brake actuator codes. My 2008 went from low 40s to low 50's after replacing the brake actuator. No other work, just the brake actuator. My results may not be typical, but the numbers are accurate for what I'm experiencing.

 

Wife gets around 42 mpg on our 2006.

I average about 51mpg but I enjoy playing the fuel game.

High is 64 mpg on a tank.

Live in Pittsburgh Pa so deal with hills daily (some call them mountains lol)

Running a project lithium for the past year. It's good for 10mpg compared to oem battery

 

Everybody keeps saying this I've had 10 generation twos at my disposal I have seen 50 miles to the gallon on the display maybe once or twice in my life I don't use the display that much I use the math I fill my car every time I fill it with 10 gallons of fuel 9.996 The bladder's blowing it's subsides I put the cap on and my car is generally showing from between 43 to the rated 47.1 when it was new but when I go to refuel I have about 428 mi on the vehicle and when I fill up I'm putting the 9.1 whatever gallons of gas in almost every time and that's it. We don't drive super slow but we're certainly not driving like we drove our 85 supras or anything like that I used to drive a hundred miles an hour almost everywhere I went until I was 45 maybe 50 now I drive like most other schmucks on the road just like the end of the movie Wise guys It just wears out and that's that. So if you're getting 50 some odd miles to the gallon in one of these Prius at the end of your tank you should be at 500 mi 530 5:50 something and I am happy if you do I don't see how you do it but hey maybe it has something to do with being further up north and out of the heat I have no idea My car is in perfect condition there is nothing to do to it so it has to be something somebody's doing with a gas pedal or where the car is located or something. I can't imagine. I just go on the theory that a crappy running Prius will get 40 mi to the gallon mine was getting right at 40 miles to the gallon almost when the hybrid battery was falling on its face and I drove it for a month like that gas engine full time 39.8 whatever close enough to 40. The minute the battery was dropped in right back up to 4746 45 whatever pretty normal and average for this vehicle. I've been with Toyota for 47 years I have only owned two cars other than a Toyota ever in my life and have lived all over the world with Toyotas. I am happy people are seeing 65 mi to the gallon Not sure how that's happening Don't really care that means you had 650 miles on that tank full approximately. Purdy cool.

 

2005 average about 42 mostly city driving.

 

That's more realistic I get about between 43 and 47.
1 but more like 45 mostly No codes compression good in the engine no excessive oil usage nothing in the orange and the dealer software all the latest updates are completed and installed and every computer in the car as of 2022 and that's that.

Tom, we've all read about how you repair stuff, so this statement can't actually be true.....

 

Sometimes a pollen-filled air filter noticably knocks down the mpg (5 mpg). Pop the filter out and knock it a few times against a curb to clear out the dust & pollen, and see if the mpg improves.

 

My 2007 Prius w/Nav gets 43 mpg at 74 mph going down flat Hwy 5 in Central California.
Best gas mileage (55 mpg) was on the highways in San Diego, due to its low rolling hills (gas-charge-gas-charge, very little idling).
