ABS Brake Actuator Part Numbers

You can check the part numbers online:

You have to check/change my chosen characteristics (e.g. the year) of your car above the pictures (from left to right) or just enter your VIN.

Then you'll find the actuator assy under Powertrain/Chassis and BRAKE TUBE CLAMP at page 2:

44500-47090 is for 08/2003 - 11/2005
44500-47140 is for 11/2005 - 03/2009

I wouldn't mix them up, especially since they're safety parts.

Similar problem I have for my 2005 prius. ABS is in it is 44500-47091 and I have recieved one part online with number 44510-47050. They say it will work, however I wanted to verify before I go for heavy machenic cost to replace it. The link you posted giving 44510 number in actuator diagram. Does it means 44510-47050 will work? I don't even see originally installed 44500-47091 number anywhere.
I might be confused attaching screenshot of output from link. Please suggest.

 

The number that is stamped on the part that looks like a part number is not necessarily the actual part number.

Go to parts.toyota.com and look up the part number for your 2005 Prius then go from there.

Hard to find exact part number 44500-47091 but may able to get 44500-47090. Toyota website mentioned this number as Supersession for my VIN. Does it mean 44500-47090 will also work?

I for one can attest to the fact that 44510-47050 came out of and I replaced it with same part number on my 2008. And just for reference purposes, If I were to do this type of job for someone, i'd charge them no less than $800 for labor NO parts. It's doable but very intense and you have to be very careful with the HV system when removing it as well as many have broken the brake lines and or stripped the threads when installing them on the new accumulator.

 

Because Toyota at times puts numbers physically on parts that are not their part numbers, it's important to be careful with this stuff. It's completely possible you took something out of the car that had "44510-47050" on it somewhere, and you replaced it with another unit you got somewhere that had "44510-47050" on it also, but that doesn't help people who are trying to find the part by its part number.

If you look up the unit for a 2008 Prius:

you'll see PNC (part name code) 44510 in the diagram, and then when you scroll down to find that PNC in the list of part numbers, you will see the part number that goes with it is 44500-47141.

And it's quite possible that if you go order a part by its actual part number, 44500-47141, and open the box and look for what number you see on the part itself that isn't its part number, you might see that 44510-47050 number again.

 

My 2008 Prius has 44510-47050 on the brake actuator. Also google 44510-47050 images, many with that number and only that number. Ebay has 132 results for 44510-47050 and 122 results for 4451047050, search Ebay for any of the other part numbers and the majority of photos show 44510-47050 images.

Conversely if you google any of the suggested parts book numbers for the images, all show the appropriate part numbers on the part itself, none with 44510-47050. Of course a lot of actuator photos are stock photos that may not be a photo of the actual part.

Maybe @TampaPrius.com could shed some light, seems they have done a lot of ABS actuator swaps.

If you search for Anti-Lock Brake Pump on car-part.com, 2004-2005 has no alternate ID numbers, if you search 2006-2009 there are 3 choices for ID or part number.

We order part number 44500-47141 from our local Toyota dealer. 44510-47051 is the part number that is actually on the part. 44510-47050 is the part number stamped on the original part from the factory. 44510-47051 is supposedly an updated improved part but I have seen a handful of brand new ones that we have installed come back a year or two later failing again already.

 

For clarity, the part number of what you ordered was 44500-47141. You ordered that part number and that's what you got. There is a different number, 44510-47051, that appears on the part, but is not its part number.

It may be the part number of one of the parts of the part, not available separately. It may be an 'engineering number'. And of course it will show up as the part number in lots of used-part or eBay sales, because the seller will have seen that number on the part and thought it was the part number, and listed it that way.

Toyota's not the only maker that has these numbers-on-parts-that-aren't-the-part-number, by the way. I ran into the same thing when I owned an old Ford. Their engineering numbers stamped on parts also had the same letters-and-numbers form as their part numbers. No telling how many times I walked up to the part counter with a part in my hand and said "I'm looking for this part number right here", and Randy would sigh and say nope, that's not the part number, and go drag out the microfiche and find out what the part number really was.
